April Fox
down in your blue sky falling up
toward the sun and through the ground
there is a taste of magic, black like the brightest stars
and there is nothing to confuse you
on the way

not quite a path, meandering
no smooth-rock pavers line the trail make you go
where there is nothing left
to see

night is everywhere, all there is
hands down palms on the rough earth
walking like you were made
to be like this

you are the axis and the orbit and the moon
nothing like gravity, a chain to hold you here
centrifuge and neutrons you are
science and myth
alone.
