Scientists' Report: Climate Change is Natural, AGW is a Fraud

Brant McLaughlin
On Wednesday, the Science & Environmental Policy Project announced that climate scientists at the University of Rochester, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia who observed patterns of temperature changes, known as "fingerprints", over the last thirty years say that these observations do not accord with what the IPCC's touted greenhouse gas computer models predict.

The U.S.-sponsored Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) backs up these findings, which indicate that climate change is natural, not man-made.

The authors of this "dissident" report are Drs. David H. Douglass, John R. Christy, and S. Fred Singer, and graduate student Benjamin D. Pearson.

"The observed pattern of warming, comparing surface and atmospheric temperature trends, does not show the characteristic fingerprint associated with greenhouse warming...Can the models accurately explain the climate from the recent past? It seems that the answer is no," said Douglass.

"Satellite data and independent balloon data agree that atmospheric warming trends do not exceed those of the surface. Greenhouse models, on the other hand, demand that atmospheric trend values be two to three times greater...observations suggest that GH models ignore negative feedbacks, produced by clouds and by water vapor, that diminish the warming effects of carbon dioxide," said Christy.

"The current warming trend is simply part of a natural cycle of climate warming and cooling that has been seen in ice cores, deep-sea sediments, stalagmites...and published in hundreds of papers in peer-reviewed journals...most likely caused by variations in the 'solar wind' that affect the flux of cosmic rays incident on the earth's atmosphere and influence cloudiness...We must conclude, therefore, that attempts to control CO2 emissions are ineffective and pointless -- while very costly," said Singer.

A week ago, the United Nations rejected all opportunities to present at panel discussions, side events, and exhibits, and denied press credentials to dissenting scientists to present information at the climate change conference which took place in Bali, Indonesia.

This group of dissenters is called the International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) and its roster of highly respected scientists draws on people from Africa, Australia, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This group of scientists has voiced strong opposition to the U.N.'s "alarmist" theory of AGW, or anthropogenic global warming. According to them, the U.N. has used political motivations to suppress these scientists and new evidence, and have written them off with the party line "the science is settled."

The scientists and their backers claim that the United Nations has a hidden wealth redistribution agenda, and is using the "new religion" of AGW as a devious means to this end. They also claim that there are powerful special interest groups who do not wish to see the Third World become more civilized for distorted romantic reasons and who want to remove much of the United States' economic power out of a perverse sense of envy who are financing the United Nations' complicit bureaucrats and threatening scientists with destroyed reputations if they do not comply.

Right on, Farmer! I'm very relieved to see that someone else has a brain and uses it! I often wonder if I am legend...

Yes, by all means let's pay attention to one group of "paid for" eggheads over another. After all, the result of listening to those who propose we take steps to slow down the rate at which we treat our only planet like a toilet is a possible redistribution of wealth. Oh horror! Fewer people with two homes and a jet and fewer people with no home and empty bellies. Where will we ever find cheap help if that happens? I say let's protect our right to plunder the earth, ignore the consequences of unregulated pollution, and let our grandchildren worry about how to flush this thing once it fills up.

Great article! Too bad the liberal media never reports about the legitimate (and scientifically based) dissent so many people have on the issue of global warming. The all wish Al Gore had been president and thus they're giving him this platform.

Other than the fact that the Bali Summit will provide absolutely no change in stopping the constantly increasing global pollution and the life-threatening build up of carbon dioxide, the world's emerging problems put together are immense. Indeed together, they are a recipe of nightmarish proportions that has never been seen before by humankind. But the greatest threat to human stability is the fact that people do not realize that the time-span for solving these huge global problems has a finite period of time also. The writing is now on the wall I would say for all to see if they will only look and where humanity has to react, but where, reaction to global problems takes decades to solve. Therefore the lead-time that we have now is the only thing that we have in our favour. Leave it for another 20-years and we shall not have the necessary lead time to do anything about the really 'big' problems. This is what we really have to get over to our politicians and multinationals, for it will
