Did I say things were back to normal? In pops Susan Perkins, very unhappy that someone has sent her parents an invitation to her funeral and requested that her parents take custody of her son. Susan Perkins isn't dead and she certainly doesn't have a son! "Where's Walter?" Since Eureka is a town filled with scientific minds, they are less surprised than they are curious about how this might have occurred. It turns out Susan refused to accompany Walter to his new job in Eureka, so Walter cloned her, built their dream house and he and the clone had a son. Well, why not?
While Susan is trying to get her head around all the events and Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) is trying to get Susan to put her arms around the boy of the cloned union, people are reporting strange electrical and auditory disturbances, similar to Jack's at the beginning of the show. What could be causing these electrical anomalies? Another experiment gone awry? Heck no, it's Walter? During the explosion in the pilot, he became trapped between dimensions and wants back inside Eureka. With Jack's insight and the abundance of scientific know how, they capture the static Walter and place him in a chamber to "slow down" his kinetic energy.
While all the who ha is going on, Jack is offered a place to stay that from the outside looks like an old military bunker. On the inside it is a sleek "smart house," ready to anticipate and fulfill Jack's every need. The house does have a few bugs, like shouting and being a nag, but hey, the bathroom has every periodical known to man available for an extended sit down.
At the beginning of the show, Zoe Carter's mom calls to let Jack know she has run away again. By the end of the show she has ended up at Jack's door. "Hi, Dad. Nice digs." Zoe (Jordan Hinson) and her unabashed attitude bode of interesting things to come. This author missed seeing Jim Taggart and Lojack in this episode, but Jim and Zoe will play significant roles in another place. The SciFi channel has added a twist to Eureka with a sub mini series spin off, only available at the website. "What is lurking in the woods around Eureka?" The first installment posted July 25. A new episode of the web only series will be posted after every new television episode of Eureka, now showing Tuesday nights at 9:00 pm EST and 8:00 Central.
The SciFi Channel website is worth the visit. They have cleverly designed ads for Eureka made products such as the "Cryo Kennel," where you can freeze your pet, when you go on vacation. If you click on one of the Eureka Made ads, you will be transported to the Made In Eureka .com web page, where you can view more clever gadgets. Gadgets like the "eyePod," the xMac and the "Think Back Memory Back Up Drive"-couldn't we all use one of those?
