Scifi Channel's Ghost Hunters

The TAPS crew on the Scifi Channel also known as Ghost Hunters, has had a pretty amazing run. For Halloween, they ran a live special with some of the best footage seen on the show.

Crew on the popular paranormal show are from the East Coast and ghost hunting is literally their night job. During the day, the two lead men run a RotoRooter business. Once the sun sets, they hunt the spooks from all over. They take calls and emails with requests for their services that are free of charge. Their TAPS website pays for costs by the membership fees on the site. When they get a call, it is their mission to show up with recording equipment and try to debunk the haunting stories of the place in question. It doesn't always work out that it was just nerves on edge.

On this live special, they visit Fort Delaware, located on Pea Patch Island. On account of all it's haunting stories, the crew can't resist. The Fort was built around 1859 during the Civil War. In total it once housed 33,000 troops, officers, and prisoners. At one point in time, they housed a total of 13,000 prisoners in the dungeon. Over the course of time Fort Delaware was operating, the prisoner total was around 32,305. Only 300 tried to escape and a very small 52 prisoners made it.

There are rumors that a 9 year old drummer boy that tried to escape by hiding in a coffin walks the grounds. The boy ended up being buried alive instead. In the Fort's kitchen, a ghostly woman in 1860's garb strolls through. Throughout the fortress, Confederate General James Archer seeks his revenge.

Upon arrival, the crew is given a first hand run down of the activity. They are pointed to the most active areas in the Fort. After their recording equipment is set up, the lights go out. Their work begins to either prove or disprove the paranormal happenings.

Highly warned of the underbelly of Fort Delaware, the crew heads down with their cameras and sound recording devices. They taunt the paranormal to prove its existence. It didn't take long for the live in haunt to let them know they were not welcome there. Making not only very clear verbal demands to get out, one crew member was physically pulled backward. On film you can actually see the jacket indent as if a hand were grabing and pulling as he stumbles backward from force.

Pleased with what they captured on film and audio, they wrap up their work. After a review the material, they verify the intense activity to one of the building coordinators. With physical proof in hand and their job done, the TAPS crew moves on to the next haunting mission.
