Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes: The Good
Bamboo is eco-friendly
Bamboo is a fast growing grass that needs no pesticides or fertilizer. It is also naturally absorbent and makes for a perfect eco-friendly cleaning product. I did find the Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes quite absorbent while cleaning around my bathroom and kitchen sink.
Use wet or dry
Whether I was dusting or cleaning a counter top, I found the Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes worked equally well wet or dry.
Reusable
Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipescan be washed and reused a few times over. I'll discuss how washable it is later in this article.
Versatile
There are are number of different ways you can use Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes. In addition to cleaning counter tops, I used them to dust wood and around electronic equipment, clean glass, dry dishes, and even in place of the disposable pads that are used by Swiffer Dusters!
Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes: The not-so-good
Washable??
After cleaning my bathroom sink, counter tops, glass, and blinds with my Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes, I tossed it in the laundry. The wipe had degenerated so much in the wash that I'd be very surprised if itwere to last more than a couple of washings before falling apart. I contacted customer service of parent company 3M and told them about this problem. The representative told me lab testings on the Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipesonly showed they shrank in the wash. She took my name and number and said someone from the company lab would call me back regarding my complaint.
Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes: To buy or not to buy?
I'm all for companies trying to become more eco-friendly with their products and applaud any effort they make. In theory and principal, I can recommend buying and using Scotch Brite Greener Clean Biodegradable Bamboo Wipes. But the degeneration of the wipe after just one washing makes me think they won't last too long, and thus becoming a (not so eco-friendly) disposable item.
The bottom line: Do they work well for cleaning? Yes. Are they truly green and eco-friendly? That I can't say for sure.
