Search and Get Paid for It!

Charlotte Raynor
I recently found a fantastic search engine called Scour that pays you to search. There are a number of things that makes this site so incredible.

When you input a search keyword you get results from Google, Yahoo and MSN-all on one page. You will also see other Scour member's feedback on each listing so you can determine which one is the best for you to use.

When your search inquiry comes up, you have a chance to vote for the listing up or down based on its significance to the keyword, and also comment on how well the search brought up sites correctly. If you see a result come up that doesn't fit with your search, vote it down. Eventually, these down voted sites will drop to the bottom and disappear therefore making the more relevant ones rise to the top. If one of the sites you visit is exactly what you were looking for, vote it up. You can read other user's reviews and comments about the websites based on your keyword while using Scour. This takes a lot of the speculation out of searching and it will get you to your objective very fast. The search is done very quickly; in fact, I think it is much faster than a normal Google search on its own.

Every member is awarded one point for every search, two for a vote and three for a comment with a maximum of 4 points a search. Once you obtain at least 6,500 points you can cash them out for a $25 Visa gift card. On top of that, they offer referral points for the friends you introduce to Scour where you can earn 25% of the points they make. This isn't a pyramid scheme and this is not something that will make you rich overnight, but you might as well get paid for what you are doing anyway. The points really add up fast especially if you have referrals.

Another thing I like is you don't see a lot of advertisement and banners flashing out. Besides that, it is a really good search engine and with it bringing up the three search engines at once on one page, you really get the results you are looking for.

Scour also has a toolbar that you can download and search right from it. Or if you don't like downloading toolbars to your computer, you can just log into the home page, sign in, and search from there. Currently the toolbar only works on Internet Explorer, but they have a search bar plug in for Firefox and a number of other widgets that you can use to use Scour from just about anywhere.

The points that you accumulate are redeemable for Visa Gift Cards. You can even use Scour if you don't live in the United States. Scour's policy states that as long as you are a legal resident of the country the gift card is delivered to you are good to go!

I truly believe that Scour is the best search engine out on the internet and if you can get paid for what you are doing anyway, it just makes it that much better.

Hmmm getting paid for something I already have to do! Sounds like a cool idea. Just stopped in to say hello to someone from my state!

I'll check it out...I've earned prizes before from using search engines like www.searchwithmandymoore.com and other celebrities.

Char, I joined a week or two ago and love SCOUR. It's very unobtrusive and I'm especially happy that you don't have to download a toolbar or anything. Great synopsis of how it works.
