Scrapbook Your Home Decor

Rachel Soden
Many individuals who scrapbook do so as a way to express their creativity and personality. To them it is a form of art to be treasured forever. However, there are only so many scrapbook albums you can make before it starts to get old. It is important to find ways to use your scrapbooking skills and supplies on things other than albums to avoid burnout from scrapbooking. In fact, it can be a fun and interesting change of pace. There are many different crafts you can create using your scrapbooking supplies.

-Card making. There is an off shoot industry from scrapbooking dedicated to the making of cards. It can be a fun way to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Birthday" to a loved one.

-Altered tins. Have someone in your family who loves Altoids? Give up the candy but keep the tin. Decorate and embellish it. You can even create a mini scrapbook accordion album from it. If you can find a tin big enough, it can be a fun gift card holder.

-Photo frames. You can purchase plain photo frames at your local craft store. Using paint and other embellishments you can create custom made photo frames to display in your home or office.

-Wood. In most craft stores, there is one aisle dedicated to blank wooden items. You can purchase coat racks, toy boxes, step stools, and kid's chairs. Decorate it with paint and rub-ons for a friend's nursery.

-Recipe Holders. There are many stores online that sell blank recipe holders. You can decorate the recipe holder to whatever theme your kitchen is. Then you can transfer your recipes to index cards and have a creative stand to display your recipes.

-Home Décor. There are many stores online that sell blank home décor items such as clocks, flower pots, and Christmas ornaments that you can customize to your own tastes and display.

-Office Décor. While you can express yourself at work through a custom made photo frame, why not create custom coffee cups, coasters, paperweights, luggage tags, and travel mugs?

-Jewelry. You can also create your own accessories using photos of your children.

All the items listed above would make great homemade gifts for the holidays. If you're giving a homemade craft as a gift, make sure to wrap it up in a creative way. You can purchase blank bags and boxes to scrapbook. Create your own Christmas tags and wrapping paper.
