Why Scrapbook a Video Game themed page?
Sure, it's not a holiday or a vacation or a first day of school, but capturing your child's love of video games in a scrapbook page is important to remembering his or her hobby. When the child is older, he or she can reminisce about the love of a certain video game they played on a Wii or a favorite computer game.
Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing for the page:
- Take pictures of your child actually playing the game.
- Have a family video game night, making sure to snap photos.
- If it's a computer game, use the "Print Screen" function on the computer to take a screen cap of game. Print it out on photo paper and use it on the page.
- Some child-themed video games come with stickers in the game packaging. If your child isn't interested in the stickers, use them for the scrapbook page.
- Create the scrapbook page to look like a video game controller or a television/computer screen.
- If the child no longer plays the game, or does not need the video game instruction manual or box, use these materials as embellishments on your pages.
Video Game Themed Scrapbook Paper and Embellishments
I'll give it to you straight-there isn't a lot of video game themed scrapbooking paper out there from which to chose, but there is some. Die Cuts With a View, a popular scrapbooking paper manufacturer, has a "Generation Tech" scrapbook paper stack, with many video game themed papers. The stack has 48 pages, many of which you could use for video or computer game themed pages. They even have a Pacman-themed page.
Additionally, Cosmo Cricket's Cogsmo line of paper (and embellishments) offer some video game themed products, however, this collection features fewer video game themed items than the Die Cuts with a View paper stack does (plus it's more expensive. You can find the DCWV paper stack for $9.99 on sale at Joann's frequently. Also check the Target Dollar Spot-I've seen video game themed scrapbooking papers there, of all places!
Popular embellishment/sticker manufactures also offer video game themed stickers. Jolee's, Karen Foster and K & Co offer stickers with video game controllers, television screens with the words "Game Over," and computer discs. You can find these at any big box craft store, such as Michael's or Joann's.
If you are a Cricut owner, as of December 2010, there are no cartridges that have any video game themed items on them.
These papers can be found at your local scrapbook store, or online. Sites like Scrapbook.com or Scrappin' Stuff also offer video game themed scrapbook supplies.
