The most common style still going is with paper, your photos, embellishment and your designs. The newer way people are scrapbooking now is all digital. There are many programs on the market today that will let you do pretty much anything to capture your memories where digital is concerned.
I find myself personally using both, I enjoy spending time thinking of different ideas to use on my pages. with every page you design you are trying to capture a different emotion. When your using good old paper and embellishments there is more flexibility to change your design before putting it all together and pasting it down.
People love home made gifts, it tells them that you put thought into what you're giving them. Just adding a personal touch goes a long way!!
Scrapbooking can be a lot of fun if you relax and allow yourself to be creative. Even if it's something you don't think you did very well don't worry! I promise you that not everyone else will have the same feeling. I didn't think I was a very creative person when I started either, I laugh now when I look back at my first few pages. However, the person I made it for still enjoys the pages I created and see no faults in them. As you carry on creating more pages you will get better and more creative with them. So carry on so your family & friends can enjoy your work.
Scrapbooking can either be expensive or inexpensive, it's entirely up to you. When you go to specific crafting stores you will find that they have a lot of nice embellishments and paper but you will find that your prices can start adding up. If you go to your local dollar store believe it or not they have a specific section for scrapbooking supplies. They might not be a nice but you can get creative and add your flare to them. This is great for when your first starting out, until your find ourself getting better at scrapbooking it's a nice way to save some money.
Another great thing about scrapbooking is it's a great way to save money on gifts. Making your own cards, birth announcements and scrapbooking make great gifts. If you make a scrapbooking page you can buy a shadow box and frame it for whoever you're giving the gift too. There are also scrapbooking frames that you can buy at your local craft stores. You'll enjoy making them and they make awesome gifts!!!
