Scrapbooking Hints, Tips and Tricks

Have you ever sat down and started to get everything ready to start scrap booking, then all of a sudden completely drew a blank. I know personally that I have been in that situation before. It can be difficult trying to start a new page or start a new book all together.

When starting out with a new book take in to consideration who the scrapbook is for. I am doing three books for each one of my daughters. So when I started those books i had a difficult time figuring out how I was going to make each girls book different from her sisters. My oldest daughters favorite color is green and she is in love with Disney princess and Hannah Montana. So starting in her scrapbook Imade sure that I had stickers of Hannah Montana and Disney princess, also I made sure that i had plenty of green scrap papers. Making sure that I had plenty of stickers that pertain to a daughter, sister, mom and dad and so on. Now with my second daughter she is only two but loves Mickey mouse and any type of baby dolls. So when starting her book I was at first only looking for milestone stickers and items for when she was a baby. Your scrapbook can only have so many milestone pages in it. Then I had to decide how I was going to incorporate her style into her scrapbook. Well I started picking up mickey mouse stickers and pages that had baby dolls on them. Just by adding a few stickers of mickey mouse and some baby dolls it is her very own style. Now my youngest daughter is only five months old so her scrapbook is all baby milestones, I wanted to switch hers up a bit. I went out and got scrap pages of baby food and baby sayings. Her book is all about being a baby as of now. There is all the normal milestone pages with a few extra stickers of what a big girl she is and things that she is doing well.

For everyone who may be working on a scrapbook for an older child maybe a teenager, I think it would make it look a little bit more like there personality if you added things they enjoy in it. For instances when making a page of your seventeen year old daughters page, why not find a magazine that has her favorite band in it and cut it out and place it in her scrapbook. When doing a page that includes school life why not put a page of all of her friends in it. When doing a book for an older boy, why not include a page of some of his sports accomplishments in it. There are always sticker and background pages for every occasion. It is very easy to find stickers and background pages to suit every accomplishment.

Maybe you are starting a scrapbook for a wedding, why not include in the book a few of the favors if you can get some. Add some of the songs that were played at the wedding. When making a scrapbook for a wedding maybe add some of the before pictures in the beginning, the bride getting ready, nervous groom. Anything to make the book a little bit more personal. The more personal the better it will look.

I have found that when doing a holiday page if you get background pages of the particular holiday it looks a bit more festive. Also using the die cut stickers, the stickers that are raised a bit that gives a little bit more detail to your page. You can use anything to put in your scrapbook. When you have a baby shower or bridal shower you can use the gift bags for a background page, or you can use pictures of the bags to add in your scrapbook. Also if you are on a budget you don't need to get fancy on your placing materials, use a glue stick they work very well. Use some Scotch tape to place things in your books. You could use yarn to give your page a kick.

Well these are some tips and tricks that i have used myself personally and they all work very well. Don't doubt yourself everyone is creative in there own way. You will figure out what works best for you.
