Google Insights for Search is an awesome SEO tool that the blind are able to operate with ease, as it is accessible for the most part. The only problems with accessibility that can be detected are that there is one unlabeled button, and there is a link that requires one to drag their mouse over it in order for it to become clickable. To a screen reader, it looks like a clickable link; but when the user tries to click it, that does not work. Nevertheless, this tool can be used to see who is searching for what, as well as gives alternative search terms that could be used to optimize web content, as well as to make one's site searchable on the web. All that the blind user would have to do when using this tool is to type the keywords of interest into the search box at the top of the page and then select the options necessary to narrow the search, should this be necessary. The options that can be selected to narrow the keyword search are in drop down menus, which works quite nicely with the screen reader. Once everything is selected, and the blind user is happy with what he wants to see, he can then press the "Search" button, which is right below the unlabeled button. Should there be the need to compare search terms side by side, the blind user can click the link that is labeled with the plus sign, and additional form fields will pop up that will enable him to enter additional key phrases.
Once the search button as been clicked, the results will show. He can see how many times his keyword has been searched, and he can see alternative terms, as well as the number of times that these terms are used in web searches. Furthermore, he will be able to see new search terms that are on the rise so he can zoom in on those as well. If nothing was done to narrow the search, the user will be able to see the search patterns worldwide. He will be able to see the amount of searches by country and region.
Then, there is Word tracker. To many blind people who are into content writing, blogging for business, blogging for a cause, and Ecommerce among other things, where the need for good SEO is a must, this tool is a Godsend! Word Tracker is screen reader friendly at best, as it has navigational links that blind users can utilize so they can jump to the sections of the site that they need to access quickly without having to read through a lot of junk to get there. In addition, should there ever come the need to verify themselves as a human and not a bot through the use of captcha, this is possible, as blind users can listen to an audio captcha with phonetic spelling, which will enable them to solve the challenge.
Should a blind user want to utilize Word tracker, then he can do so without any trouble whatsoever. All that he has to do is enter his keywords into the search box and then press "go." The results will then populate, showing the user how many times his key phrase has been searched, along with alternative search terms and the number of times they have been searched.
These keyword tools alone allow the blind to be the best they can be when it comes to driving loads of traffic to their content or their websites. NO more do blind people who wish to make a presence for themselves online have to be left out in the cold. Now, it is easier than ever before!
