Scribus: Your Free Desktop Publishing Software

I've never been the one to fall into the free stuff, not when it comes to software. It really has nothing to do with the software itself, it just happens to do with the whole trust issue. I hate downloading things to my computer that I'm not familiar about. But I guess you have to take your chances right?

Well I wanted to do a little desktop publishing but I had no clue what I was doing. I think this is the best time to try free stuff when you are doing new stuff.

I ran into Scribus desktop Publishing Software, which was free so I went ahead and tried it out. It has wonderful features which come off to be professional and that's one of the reasons why I was shocked that Scribus desktop publishing software was free.

The main thing I like about Scribus was that it was easy to use. I thought I was going to have a hard time sliding through the features but I didn't. It offers wizards and a help guide that will walk you through every nook and cranny.

Of course there are a few things that caused Scribus to flunk with me and that were the template option. I didn't have much to choose from and that wasn't good at all. I like diversity and when it comes to create websites, I need all the diversity I can get.

Another thing I don't like about the Scribus is that is has a funky photo integration. It's not all that easy to integrate your photos into the software. Whether it be personal or professional.

For some reason if you need a printed a manual you're going to pay or it .I personally think that you should get that manual with the software. Why charge for something that should be free anyway.
If you are like me and refuse to buy the manual then you can just inside the community and get tips for plenty of users who have tips to offer. I ave found a lot of great information that helped me out tremendously.

Your computer must meet certain requirements for Scribus to work correctly. You need 256 MB at the minimum. A Pentium II or better and 750 MHZ or faster. I think Scribus is great for people who are trying to run a small business of some kind.

For Scribus to be free I think that it's great desktop publishing software for either newbie's or people who are trying to build their home business.
