The Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber was developed to make cleaning your showers and tubs easier. It's supposed to clean away soap scum and grime with little effort. My mother always told me if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. How does this product measure up?
The Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber starter kit comes with a handle, four cleaning pads, and a storage tub.
Handle
The handle color is the same green color as is on all Scrubbing Bubbles products and is made of sturdy water repellent type of low density polyethylene foam. It has an ergonomic design that makes it easy to grip. Be sure to wear gloves because even though the handle keeps your hand lifted away from the scrubbing pad, the cleaner can still foam up on your hands as you start scrubbing. The square and rounded shape of the handle made it a bit difficult to get into corners so I had to take the scrubbing pad off of the handle to dig deep into areas that were hard to reach. Then I had problems getting the pad to attach back on the handle because the pad was foamy and slippery.
Cleaning Pads
The cleaning pads are disposable and already have concentrated foam cleaner built in to them. All you have to do is add water to activate the foam. The pads are very thin and have tiny scrubbing fibers built in. The pad seems to produce different amounts of foam depending on the type of surface you're scrubbing; when scrubbing a rough surface like the basin of the shower I got more foam than when scrubbing a smoother surface like tile. It took me a few attempts to initially get the scrubbing pad to attach itself to the handle. The secret trick is to push the handle of the scrubber down hard onto the printed blue side of the scrubbing pad and then sort of wiggle the handle back and forth. This seemed to help mesh the strips of the fastener down into the fiber of the cleaning pad. The pad is intended for one time use is supposed to clean an average size shower or bathtub.
Storage Tub
The storage tub is nothing more than a flimsy plastic container that holds up to six cleaning pads and has a shallow indented tray on the top where your foam handle can rest. I wasn't too impressed with the storage tub or tray.
I was pleasantly surprised that the smell of the cleaning foam was not nearly as overpowering as the spray type of Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner. There were no toxic fumes making my eyes water or causing me to cough or giving me a headache.
The starter kit retails for about $5.00. The refill kit has six cleaning pads and retails for around $3.00.
I give the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber cleaner 3 out of 5 stars for light cleaning needs. If the tub or shower you're cleaning had anything other than mild soap scum buildup that I do not think you'll be satisfied with the results. My shower was fairly clean and needed light cleaning and the foam barely lasted all the way through to the end of the task. I also do not think this product would do anything to clean dirty grout. It worked great on tile for light soap scum, but that's all. If you have a very dirty shower/tub area to clean you might want to have a backup plan because I don't think the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber will be able to perform under pressure. But for light cleaning, it's a great product.

great review..and thanks. I was considering trying this product. Now I will...
Great review. I hadn't heard this product, but that's probably because I use only non-toxic cleaners.
I have been wondering about these. Thanks.
Beautifully done review. :-)
This was a very good review. However, I really think anything but good old cleanser is a waste of money. These other things are just gimmicks.
Very good review!
thanks for the review, I tend to use ajax and old dutch cleanser all the time, it is what I grew up with
I would have been wondering about the fumes myself (fumes in a small room such as a bathroom....not good!!) I think I'll stick with my watered down lysol LOL....but a really GREAT review... very well presented!!! :)
