Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max Vs Scotch Brite Disposable Toilet Scrubber
Toilet Bowl Cleaning Challenge
The Design
The design is fairly similar for both products. When you open your starter kit, the wand is in two pieces and you have to snap it together. I have to say that the wand on the Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner is much easier to put together and is much more heavy duty. It also includes a hook that you can place on your toilet so that you can hang the wand there when you are not using it.
The Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max and the Scotch Brite disposable scrubbers each come with a disposable scrubbing pad. The Scrubbing Bubbles wand has a little button that you push so that you can pick up the scrubbing pad and that it snaps into place. You actually have to pick up the Scotch Brite scrubber and expose the hole to attach the wand. I wasn't thrilled about this since I do have small children and I try to minimize handling cleaning products.
You use the wand and scrubber to clean your toilet as you would with a regular toilet brush and when you are done, with both cleaners, you just press the button and the scrubbing pad falls off.
Performance
The Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max scrubbing pads have a blue layer on the front of the sponge that includes a special formula meant to target stains such as limescale, hard water, and rust. The design of the brush makes it easy for you to get to the area right under the rim of the toilet bowl which is hard to access with a regular toilet brush. The abrasive fibers on the blue layer really work in breaking down the stains on your toilet, but you have to learn how to scrub so that you clean your toilet evenly before the blue layer is gone because once the blue layer rubs off, you are just left with a regular sponge. The first time I cleaned my toilet with the Fresh Brush Max, I worked really hard scrubbing one area of my toilet, and by the time I was done, there was no cleaning solution left to clean the rest.
The Scotch Brite disposable toilet scrubber has built in bleach and a special pumice formula to remove rust and hard water stains. It did a really good job of removing stains on my toilet and is also easier to use under the rim of the toilet bowl. The sponge held up better throughout the entire cleaning, which was also nice.
Overall comparison
In terms of design, I like the Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max a lot more than I do the Scotch Brite disposable toilet scrubber. The wand is more durable and is easy to store. It is also easier to place the brush on the wand and to get rid of it when you are done cleaning. Even though you are supposed to be able to just get rid of the sponge with a touch of a button when you are done cleaning with the Scotch Brite scrubber, I found that the fibers on the sponge become attached to the wand and you end up having to use your hand to get it off. I can't think of very many things that are more disgusting than having to handle a used toilet scrubber.
In terms of performance, both products do a great job of getting your toilet bowl very clean. The Scotch Brite disposable toilet scrubber sponge holds up better over time while you are cleaning than the Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max does.
The retail price on both products is comparable. The Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max retails for about $5.49 and the Scotch Brite disposable toilet scrubber retails for about $4.99. The replacement sponges for both products are typically about $3.99. The Scrubbing Bubbles kit includes 5 refills while the Scotch Brite kit includes six.
I have personally decided to stick with the Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Max. It has served me well for a year now and I really don't like the idea of having to handle the cleaning sponge before and after use on the Scotch Brite disposable scrubber.

I use the scrubbing bubbles scrubbing pad. I've never tried the scotch brite scrubbing pad, but maybe I will. Good review.
