Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush Product Review

Drew Taylor
Several years ago, a couple of brands of disposable toilet brushes appeared in stores. I tried one but it was terribly disappointing and quickly disappeared from store shelves never to return. I recently noticed the Fresh Brush from Scrubbing Bubbles and gave it a try. Overall, the Fresh Brush 2-in-1 Starter Kit was very convenient and cleaned quite thoroughly.

Fresh Brush Kit Contents
The starter kit includes a long, curved handle, four flushable cleaning pads and two heavy-duty non-flushable cleaning pads. Each pad contains Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner. The kit also includes a small hook to store the brush on the toilet tank.

The flushable pads resemble a small bundle of folded paper towels. The blue stripe at the top contains the toilet cleaner. The heavy-duty cleaning pads look like a cheap scrubbing sponge.

Assembly and Use
The 19-inch handle easily snaps together. The end has a little gripper that securely holds the disposable cleaning pad. It is easy to move the little switch to clasp or release the pad.

Cleaning Power and Flushability
I tested this product on a seldom-used toilet that usually requires CLR to remove the discoloration. I used the white, flushable cleaning pad. Per the directions, I swirled the brush to release the cleaner. The bowl turned blue as the cleaner spread. Soon the water was so dark, I could not see what I was doing. I had to flush the toilet to lighten the water.

The flushable cleaning pad held up nicely and made quick work of cleaning the toilet. The long, curved handle made it very easy to clean the entire bowl without a lot of bending or stretching. The cleaner had a light citrus scent without any heavy chemical odors.

Even after cleaning, the pad did not break down much. I chose not to flush the cleaner because it was just as easy to flick the button and watch it fall into the trashcan.

Room for Improvement
One of the main purposes of this product is to minimize contact with germs. However, there is not an easy way to attach the flushable pads without getting close to the end of the brush.

The flushable refills are perforated, but I could not remove one without it tearing to some degree.

Price and Availability
The Fresh Brush 2-in-1 Starter Kits are available at a variety of stores, including grocery stores and discount retailers such as Target. The starter kits costs approximately $5 to $6. Refill packs include twelve of the flushable brushes for $4 to $5. I have not seen the heavy-duty cleaning pads refills in stores.

Verdict
The Fresh Brush is an excellent cleaner. It will work fine for maintaining the guest bathroom, but the primary bathroom requires frequent cleaning and it is not practical for me to use a disposable product.
