Scrubs Guest Stars: Season Five
Season Five of Scrubs Features Mandy Moore, Among Others, as Guest Stars
In season five of Scrubs, J.D.'s main romantic fling is Julie Quinn, a very attractive, yet unbelievably clumsy woman. In his usual fashion, J.D. finds the one, small annoying quirk of this almost perfect woman and obsesses over it until he is almost ready to beak up over it. And what is this odd quirk? Julie does not laugh when she finds something funny. Instead, she says,"That's so funny." This bothered J.D. to the point of intervention from his friends, which included watching the movie Uncle Buck with her so she will say "That's so funny" so many times that it will not bother him anymore, which works. J.D. rushing things eventually brings the relationship to an end. This quirky Scrubs character is played by none other than pop star turned actress Mandy Moore. Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore hit stardom in the early 2000's with the release of bubble-gum pop albums such as So Real and Mandy Moore. In 2000, she tried her first television outing on MTV with The Mandy Moore Show and commercials for Neutrogena. Mandy Moore had a small role in 2001's hit The Princess Diaries but made real acting impact the next year in a starring role in the hit movie A Walk to Remember. Since then, Mandy Moore has starred in many films, including Chasing Liberty and Saved!. As many celebrities have done, Mandy Moore also voiced the Final Fantasy VII character Aerith Gainsborough in the video game Kingdom Hearts.
In a much smaller role, Jason Bateman played Mr. Sutton, a patient who raises ostriches. Jason Kent Bateman has been in the lime-light for many years. In 1981, Jason Bateman began his acting career with a role on the television series Little House on the Prairie, and began his rise to teen idol with stints on shows like Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family. In 1987 Jason Bateman followed in the shoes of fellow Scrubs guest star Michael J. Fox by starring in the sequel to Fox's hit movie Teen Wolf, creatively titled Teen Wolf Too. These days, Jason Bateman may be better known for playing the only sane member of the Bluth family on the fan loved television show Arrested Development.
Season five of Scrubs also introduced to us to another major love in the life of Dr. John Dorian by the name of Dr. Kim Briggs. Dr. Briggs first appeared in the second to last episode of season five. From then on, Dr. Kim Briggs has been a recurring character on Scrubs in every season so far. Elizabeth Maresal Mitchell, the actress that plays Dr. Kim Briggs on Scrubs, has been acting since 1998, but is most well-known for her roles in movies Seabiscuitand the Spider-Man franchise, in which she plays Betty Brant.
Lastly, it is time to talk about one of my favorite comedians Dave Foley. In season five of Scrubs, David Scott Foley plays Dr. Lester Hedrick, Sacred Heart Hospital's grief counselor. Dave Foley is, by far, most known for his role in the Canadian sketch comedy show The Kids in the Hall. The show went on to air for five years and become a cult classic, partially due to numerous re-airings on the cable network Comedy Central. Dave Foley also starred in the American sitcom News Radio along with cameos in shows ranging from Becker to South Park, along with various movie roles.
This completes my listing of my four favorite guest stars from Scrubs, season five. As usual, there are many more guest stars and cameos that have not been mentioned. I apologize to any Scrubs fans that may upset with my top four list, but I also welcome all of you to comment this article with your favorite guest stars.
