Scrubs Guest Stars: Season Six

Keri Russell Heads This Installment of Scrubs Guest Stars

Joshua Cook
Season six of the NBC cult television comedy Scrubs has some special guests stars, just as seasons past. These guests stars include a popular movie and television actress, and Tony Award winning actress, an actor from the hit HBO cable television series Six Feet Under, and yet another alumni from the hit television sitcom Spin City. Season six of Scrubs shaped up to be another great television season, with even more great guest stars.

Season six of Scrubs introduced us to someone from Dr. Elliot Reed's past, a sorority sister by the name of Melody O'Harra. Melody blows into Sacred Heart Hospital to see her old college sister when she is sent to town to do a hotel review for her employer, Zagat's. She and Dr. Reed start spending so much time together that J.D. gets jealous of the time he and Elliot do not spend together anymore. This causes the usual zany actions, which include trying to sleep with Melody and telling her Lies about Elliot.

Best known for her role on the television dramedy Felicity, Keri Russell really brings Melody O'Harra to life. Felicity brought Keri Russell into the lime light - not to mention earned her a Golden Globe Award for the role - during the late 1990's, but that was not her first shot on television. The Disney Channel saw talent when Keri Russell was younger, and cast her as a member of The Mickey Mouse Club way back in 1991. After Felicity ended in 2002, Keri Russell took a couple of years off from film and television, then came back to do guest star roles and cameos, one of which was her small stint on season of NBC's Scrubs. Russell has also done numerous film roles; most notably We Were Soldiers, Mission: Impossible III, and Waitress. Recently, confirmations have been made that Keri Russell will be the voice actor behind Wonder Woman in a new, direct-to-DVD animated release.

One of my favorite minor characters from Scrubs appears in season six. Private Dancer is a soldier from the Iraq War who is injured and comes to Sacred Heart Hospital. He befriends most of the staff and become a beloved character around Sacred Heart Hospital. His appearance does also spark debate about the Iraq War among the staff, and appears to be an attempt from the writers to stay current and topical. Private Dancer is played by actor Michael Weston, who changed his name from Michael Rubinstein due to their already being a Michael Rubenstein in the Screen Actor's Guild. A friend of Scrubs star Zach Braff, Michael Weston has appeared in many projects of Braff's (Garden State, The Last Kiss, and Scrubs), and is in talks to appear in the hit television medical drama House, with a possibility of a spin-off being based on his character.

Stephanie D'Abruzzo is a Tony Award winning actress who played a one episode role during season six of Scrubs. As Patti Miller, a patient who hears everybody singing instead of talking, she is the center of the only musical episode of Scrubs. Highlight song of this great musical? 'Everything Comes Down to Poo', which can be seen in this Scrubs video. Stephanie D'Abruzzo is best known for her dual role in the Broadway musical Avenue Q, where she played a school teacher by the name of Kate Monster and seductress named Lucy the Slut.

Alexander Chaplin plays a recurring guest star role on Scrubs as a drug-addicted patient who tricks Dr. Elliot Reed into giving him prescription drugs. Later, he tricks Jordan Cox into 'loaning' him money. Alexander Chaplin was a part of the Spin City cast as speechwriter James Hobert. Bill Lawrence, creator of both Scrubs and SpinCity has brought numerous guest stars into the world of Sacred Heart Hospital.

Oddly, I can't get over the feeling that I'd be embarrassed if my friends knew I watched Scrubs, and I can't say that about any other show. I rarely care what people think! It can be hilarious in such a silly way. Thanks for the article.

I stumbled onto this show by accident not knowing anything about it & initially thought it was ridiculous...but became a big fan of the show my second time around...I now refer to this show as the answer to the missed Seinfeld show ;-) A Scrubs fan has to evolve you can't force the issue ;-) Thanks for the publication. I agree with JLN..classic line..

I love this show, which I think should be on prime time network TV. Great cast and pretty ladies. Along with Reno 911 one of the more under-rated shows on TV. Great article.
