As for more funding, the reason why J.D. hasn't been in two episodes (thus far) is because in order for the show to meet budget a few of the main characters have to miss 3 episodes of this season. Terrible? Definitely, you'd think after 7 years they would "donate" their ridiculous compensations for the viewer's sake at least. So you can count on Zach Braff missing another episode in season 8 (in addition to core cast members). I believe this aspect of (the budget/cast) season 8 is draining on this season's conclution, halting the progression if you will. For those of you that don't know this will be FOR SURE Zach Braff's last season. So for him to take a 3 episode "break" really does put the brakes on wrapping up his character.
I thought Scrubs Season 8 was suppose to be the new beginning, getting back to its roots as a comedy with a hint of drama to give it a nice balance. I look back at seasons 2 and 3 and can't find a dull moment. Now, looking at season 8 I squint to find a moment worth my time(maybe that's a bit harsh). Most of season 8 is straight drama with a few forced comic lines thrown into it. I feel like the writers are trying to cram the new interns down our throat. Why you ask? Well ABC wants to continue Scrubs Season 9 with a focus on interns and/or Turk. They want to keep the show going without having Zach Braff as a focus. To me the show will not be the same without John Dorian's crazy antics, for those of you that get your jollies solely off Turk, well we'll see how long Scrubs Season 9 lasts.
Overall, I love Scrubs. Scrubs has been a great show, but Scrubs season 8 has been frustrating. I know a lot of spoilers have come out I'm scared to look at them because I think the writing this season is dreadful. I'm afraid to turn on entertainment tonight to find out the season finale is J.D. dying in a horrific hand gliding accident.
Leave a comment let me know what you think about Scrubs season 8, do you think I'm over reacting.

Post a CommentMy personal opinion is that season 8 should have never existed. I have been watching scrubs ever since the series premier and remain a devoted fan. Scrubs would have been much better off if NBC did not screw the show over. Bill Lawrence and Zach Braff had wanted the seventh season to be the last which would have been good since well the seventh season was awful. As for season 8 as a whole I am pretty happy with it. It is not nearly as good as the early seasons, but aside from the episode featuring courtney cox I am pleased to say that there is humor in scrubs once again
I agree with you 100%. Season 8 feels empty. Maybe they felt the characters were too old to be so slapstick. All I know is that I've seen way too many speeches, reflections, time wasters and by having JD missing from some of the first episodes of the season makes it even more noticable.
