Scrubs Season 8 Spoilers

Alicia White
Last season was supposed to be end of Scrubs, however a new contract with ABC not only allowed Scrubs to film an 8th season, but executive producer Bill Lawrence is now suggesting that ABC will carry this comedy indefinitely. What's the catch? Some of the older cast members will be replaced with younger ones to keep the storyline fresh starting next year.

Season 8, however, remains intact with all of our favorite characters returning for another fun year at Sacred Heart Hospital.

While Dr. Cox was at the helm last season as Chief of Medicine, Courtney Cox will arrive mid-season to take over this position. Her stay is only rumored to last for three episodes. If you have been following the drama with Scrubs, NBC, and ABC, you will remember that in order to be properly funded this year, each main character will have to skip out on three episodes. Perhaps Dr. Cox will be MIA during these episodes?

For those who preferred Dr. Kelso as the Chief of Staff, you will be glad to know that he will be staying on as a recurring character. In fact, now that Kelso's job isn't to make Dr. Cox's life miserable at the hospital, they become good friends and confidants. This new shift should be interesting.

For those of us who are dying to know the Janitor's name, we might have to wait for another season or two. Rumor has it, that the janitor and Lady will me marrying sometime this season. Originally, this is how we would have come to know his real name, but now that the show might go on for several seasons, we might have to wait.

In a recent TV Guide interview, Scrubs executive producer Bill Lawrence said, "When we find out The Janitor's real name, then the show really is over."

This year three new interns are scheduled to make their rounds. Aziz Ansari, Betsy Beutler, and Eliza Coupe will join the cast to once again ruffle everyone's feathers, and possibly create a new love interest for someone.

Hopefully, these interns are more interesting than last year's crew. No one really stood out except that one intern with the squeaky voice. It seemed like the writers couldn't think of anything better than annoying the staff with a high-pitched voice.

By far, the most shocking news is that JD's character, played by Zach Braff, will no longer be with us after this season. Lawrence said this wasn't Braff's choice. ABC strongly suggested relieving some of the older characters. So far JD is the only character on the chopping block. His pending departure suggests that he won't be marrying Elliot after all, because she is still hanging around for now.

Can you imagine Scrubs without JD?

I can't imagine them trying to continue the series without it's main character... it really kills any TV series. I'd rather have Scrubs end on a high note, than have it linger on far longer than it should. I hope this rumor is false.

No really JD is the reason I love scrubs. If he leaves , I doubt they will find another innocent , nerotic , euphoric silly to take his place.

If they continue the show without the original cast then I will stop watching. Even if I won't get to here the janitor's real name!!

Thank you for the information. I heard they would renew the show but didn't know it would be on ABC. I can't imagine the show without JD, but I will have to give it a try.
