That statement had me wondering was I wrong about this show that I denounced because I was a devoted ER fan. I had to find out and see for myself what I had been missing out on. After one episode I was hooked like an addicted to crack,I had to watch another eposide. After about 5 episodes that week I was hoping it was still on the air. Luckily for me it still was on NBC going on its sixth season. This show is a must-see and shouldn't be missed.
The television show "Scrubs" is set in a hospital called Sacred Heart. In Sacred Heart Hospital the main characters are 5 doctors, one nurse and a janitor. The story of the show is mainly narrated by John"JD"Dorian one of the doctors on staff. JD has a best friend since college Christopher Turk, who is a surgeon. Chris Turk is now married to his long term girlfriend Nurse Carla Espinosa.
During his days as an intern JD meets a girl named Elliot Reid who he later dates and then after a messy breakup become good friends. JD's attending is Dr. Perry Cox who JD hungers for his friendship and guidance but gets it in Dr.Cox's unconventional ways with being called a girl name every second. If thats not enough JD has to deal with The Janitor(he has no name) who for some reason doesnt like him. He makes sure that JD knows it with his weird stories about his wife having just a pinkie and a thumb on her hand.
"Scrubs" is a must see because the show is the funniest I have seen a quite some time. I was so wrong about this show and I owe it a BIG APOLOGY. Dont get me wrong I still love my ER for the drama but when you want your spirit lifted or a good laugh "Scrubs" is where its at. After one episode you will change your mind just like I did. I am a non-believer turned into a Scrubs Maniac.
Each episode continues from the last without having to do the usual boring recap. You really never know what will happen with JD and The Janitor. You always think will this be the episode where they become friends but it never happens.Like the saying goes "Close but no cigar" is how you describe their relationship. Even better yet will we ever know THe Janitor's name so we can stop calling him "The Janitor". Will Bob Kelso ever show his softer side in a more direct way? Only time will tell.
Nurse Carla Espinosa makes you wish she was your friend with her love for gossip and her motherly ways. She is a strong and confident woman but she isnt afraid to show her insecurities. I liked the fact that in the show they had her and Turk go through fertility issues instead of Dr.Cox and his wife Jordan like most shows would have done. This made Inferility a WOMAN issue instead of just a "White Couples"' issue. She is my personal favorite.
Her Husband Christopher Turk who everyone called Turk is so funny. Especially when he tries to keep with the other Surgeons. Sometimes its weird how close him and JD are. Its really is like they are a couple of their own as people joke in the show. He is the one you would go to for advice or a good laugh. He is the Big Brother type you wished you had on your side.
Elliot Reid is not the normal blonde beauty. She is a bit of a geek. Elliot is loose doesn't hide. She is a crazy character but you can't help but to love her. She is sensitive, sweet and caring. Who also wants the guidance of Dr.Cox who calls her Barbie affectionately. Elliot goes through many relationships and even dates JD but now found love in her booty call turned boyfriend Intern Keith.
Dr. Perry Cox is a the tough guy doesn't show his emotions. He doesnt even like when JD or Elliot show their feelings. He is cocky and sarcastic who is really a caring person that hides behind those two traits. He is the Father figure to all the former interns turn Attending Doctors. You cant help but laugh how he interacts with his Ex-wife turned girlfriend Jordan. She is just as cocky and sarcastic as he is.
In addition, Dr.Bob Kelso, Cheif of Medicine who loves to put the fear into the interns and everyone else. This one crazy man who loves to talk bad about his wife and saving money at the hospital.Dr.Kelso loves making poor Ted (Sacred Heart's Lawyer) work all day and night. He tries to talk a good game with his "I dont care" attitude but once in a while there is an episode where he shows his softer side.
The cast really make you forget its just a show. Their talents really shine through as they draw you into their character's life. Its as if you are God just watching the lives of these medical professional. You feel their pain when their sad and feel their joy when they laugh. The way these characters interact with one another is flawless. If there was a problem on the set you would never know because these cast of Actors bring their A-game all the time.
How can "Scrubs not make a fan when you have a cast of talented actors. You have Sarah Chalke(Ellliot Reid)and Donald Faison (Christoper Turk nicknamed Turk) who many will recognized from past television shows. You also have new Celebries as Zach Braff (John"JD"Dorian) , John C. McGinley(Dr.Perry Cox), Judy Reyes(Nurse Carla Espinosa) , Neil Flynn(The Janitor) and Ken Jenkins (Dr. Kelso). They had their dues come to them in ten folds.
As long as "Scrubs" is on the air , I will be watching. Whether its in reruns or new episodes still comming on NBC. I spent so many seasons being stubborn and not watching a show that truly deserves its air space.
There is no other way to stress it. Tune in and make up your own conclusions if you havent already.

Post a CommentThis show is ok. My girlfriend loves this show for some reason.
I was thinking that myself, could it be the actors name. Especially since the character "The Janitor" was only suppose to be on the show for the first episode. Who knows, lol.
I agree, Scrubs is a fun show and I too wrote it off when my friend first tried to get me into it in the 3rd season. On a side note, I've heard a theory that the Janitor's name is actually Neil Flynn, the guy who plays him. Remember JD sees the "Janitor" in the Fugitive and the "Janitor" later confirms he was in the movie. Of course, the part was actually played by Flynn. So is Flynn playing himself? Maybe.
