Scrumptious Walnut Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup of unbleached flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon of salt
2 eggs
½ cup brown cane sugar
½ cup regular cane sugar
1 stick of butter, softened
½ cup of walnut halves or pieces

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter a 9-inch baking pan. Blend the unbleached flour, baking powder, and salt together. Then add the eggs and cane sugars in and continue to mix. Then add the softened butter. I have found it helpful to melt the stick of butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds prior to mixing it in with the rest of the ingredients. Lastly, add the flour mixture in and blend the concoction until it appears smooth and satiny. Lightly spread the mixture into the baking pan and cover the surface with the walnut halves/pieces. Place the pan in the oven to bake for about twenty-five to half and hour. You can always test to see if the cake is done baking by using a toothpick or a fork and inserting it into the center of the cake. If the toothpick or fork comes out dry, then you are all done! Here is a side tip, once you are done serving and there are some leftovers, do not leave it outside because eventually the cake will become stiff and hard to eat. I would recommend putting the unused portions and immediately storing it in a covered container or in the refrigerator to warm up for later.
