This popular dive site is located off Industrial Dive in Pelham, Alabama and features a twenty-five acre limestone quarry filled with 850,000,000 gallons of water. This quarry varies in depths from four feet to one hundred forty feet, and offers many underwater exploration features such as cars, small boats, a 1940's fire truck, concrete pipes, a school bus, and much more.
A staple Alabama dive school for years, Blue Water offers several degrees of dive certification and schooling, ranging from beginning levels through instructor. Classes run two nights per week for three weeks, with certification on the following Saturday. These classes alternate between Mondays and Wednesdays, and Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm. Saturday certifications may take place from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm.
The Open Water Certification is $395. You must provide your own fins, snorkel, mask and booties. You will receive a dvd and other materials once the deposit has been paid. The materials must be reviewed before the first class.
The Nitrox Certification includes park access, a Nitrox manual, class instruction, Nitrox certification card, and Nitrox tank and dive for $199.
The Advanced Open Water class runs $475 and includes park access, manuals, tanks or Nitrox, class instruction, deep certification, night certification, and navigation certification. Blue Water also offers a rescue certification for $425.
You will be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire before starting your class. All fees include a $100 non-refundable deposit. If for some reason you can not make the class times, Blue Water offers private instruction.
For the certified diver, equipment may be rented at the facility with proof of Scuba certification. You can rent scuba suits, tanks and regulators, weight belts, fins, snorkels, almost anything that a diver might need, or forget to bring. They absolutely do not allow solo diving or snorkeling unless you have a solo certification. You must have a dive buddy with you, so please plan accordingly. Blue Water also offers night dives for groups of eight or more with pre-registration.
Please take a look at the website for more information, and happy diving!
