Seafarers

Mike Powers

A poem. Rictameter. Seafaring souls that go down to the sea...

Fearless
Seafaring souls
That go down to the sea
In ships; upon the great waters
They do their business. Lashed by wind and wave,
They reap their bounty from the depths
And then, holds o'erflowing,
Return to port,
Fearless...

Based upon Psalm 107, The Holy Bible, King James Version

I was totally caught by these opening lines, Mike ... "Fearless/Seafaring souls/ That go down to the sea". There's just something about the way those words roll off of the tongue. Fantastic poem!

I am forever grateful to these sea travelers that continue to bring us fresh seafood.
