That SEAL Team Six was used to target and kill Osama Bin Laden shows the respect that our leaders have for that covert group. When you care enough to send the very best, send SEAL Team Six!
SEAL Team Six is under the Joint Special Operations Command which is over American Special Forces type units. SEAL stands for Sea Air And Land and the SEAL teams are quite possibly the best special operation troops in the world.
You may think the since the SEAL teams are in the navy that they only do missions on or near the water. That is not the case as the SEALS are very adapt at any kind of mission where their special talents are needed.
The Navy SEALS are experts with every type of weapon in and out of the U.S. Military arsenal. They are also probably the most physically fit members of the United States Military. SEAL teams are constantly training and preparing for whatever the next mission may be.
U.S. Navy SEAL teams are located in Little Creek Virginia, Pear Harbor Hawaii and Coronado California which is home of the Naval Special Warfare Center. Navy SEALS descend from navy frogmen of World War Two and really came into their own during operations in the Vietnam War.
My uncle Lee was a Marine in Vietnam and sometimes told of fighting with Navy people in bars. When I asked him if they ever fought with the SEALS he just laughed at me and said "We knew better."
SEAL training is so tough that part of it is known as "Hell Week" where the men are driven to the very brink of what a human can take. Trainees can quit by ringing a bell in camp which is hard to do in front of your peers. The training is so difficult so the Navy can be assured that anyone graduating into the SEALS can take almost anything.

Post a CommentRichard I meant no insult to Special Forces troops. The fact is I wrote about SEAL Team 6 so if I had written an article about all Special Forces then I would have wrote about them all.
Richard Houck, when you write "worked with some of them in 'Nam", are you referring to the Vietnam war in the 60's and 70's? If so, it wasn't Seal Team 6 members. Seal Team 6 was started in the early 80's.
Great article. I heard this article was a big success for you so I off my congratulations.
You got some interesting comments here, Randy. Nice tribute. Don't sweat Kristen. She only joined to comment here.
ALL SEALS are men, therefore made by GOD.Why TEAM , because they ARE the best (no offense to my friends in TEAM 2 or 4).NAVY SEALS GO THROUGH THE MOST INTESIVE TRAINING KNOWN TO MAN!THOSE WHO DOGMATICALLY INSULT ANY SEAL,I would very much enjoy watching you RING OUT in one day because that is all you would last ( if even the whole day.) On the subject of a burial at sea, it is the Islamac Tradtion that was carried out by our Navy,in honor of the tradtion that a Muslum be buried w/in 24 hours after death. Our President is to be congratulated of ridding the world of Enemy#1.It amazes me the idiotic comments made on this sight against the SEALS.Thanks for the comment that ALL are safe.Hell yeah, way to go Navy SEALS and our President and staff.GOD BLESS you for keeping those who can's serve(but would ) if allowed beside you.TO ALL SEALS THANK YOU and if prayers count TEAM6 AND ALL SEALS you are in my prayers EVERYDAY! GOD DOES watch over all of you but it does not hurt that you are tra
I feel the above "article" was poorly written. In the author's defense, very little confirmed information exists on DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6). In my own opinion I relate them to the Navy's version of CAG, or Delta Force (not the Chuck Norris video, but more like a tv series called The Unit). If anyone has ever entered a room with a weapon in a tactical environment, with a threat engaging your entry, you will fire upon them, hopefully two in the chest, one in the head grouping. I voice this opinion without relation to religious preference or peace/military views. SEAL team 6 and Devgru train in something called a Shoot-House (rooms and buildings of paper targets) workout, then go to the shooting range all week. This is very different training than what is offered to conventional and even some special forces units. SEAL Team 6, and CAG are on a different level than Special Forces and SEAls units (as per 3 tiers, conventional, unconventional, and tasked (ST6, and CAG) units.
I agree that Seal Team 6 is a little over rated. I worked with some of them in 'Nam, and they were too busy telling everyone how tough they were to really do anything constructive. I was with SFG 5, and we fought as commandos for the duration, and I certainly wouldn't rate a Seal Team as being more qualified than any Army Special Forces team.
Kristen Esbensen, you are exactly right on the whole peace thing and Gods plan. America should just sit back and pray that the world fixes itself. I prayed for a peaceful result and I got exactly what I wanted, none of our guys (seal team 6) got hurt, apperently God was watching out. As for Usama, I hope the sharks don't choke on his robes.
I'm thankful that the bin Laden chapter is closed. I'm deeply concerned about several aspects of this closure tho'. Why strictly SEAL team 6? And why the burial at sea? This mission should have come through Central Command, not the CIA and the White House. I smell a lot of "campaign fodder" in this whole event. The article about SEAL 6 was obviously biased, more posturing than fact, and insulting to the all Special Forces units, who are equally qualified to have done this mission, if not more so.
this is to kristen...you are a full fledged retard!!! I am a former military man. if you feel so sympathetic to the poor soul of osama and all other islamic people travel over seas...don't wear a face mask in public,, see if you can stand 50seconds out in the street before being beaten with a steel rod to death...per Islamic law...
