Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express

Good news keeps knocking the door and this time the rejoice is all about the new Express train, covering distance from capital Delhi to Kolkata. Early, this morning(18th September'09), Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee has flagged off the Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express from Sealdah. The day has introduced a new beginning for economic travelers, who depend solely on traveling long distance by train.

Sealdah-New Delhi Express train not only boast of as the fastest train then Rajdhani Express, but also provides air-conditioned seats to all travelers. Apart from the normal AC-I, AC-II and AC-III tiers, it will also offer compartment with economy AC-III-tier class.

The inauguration of this travel service has added rays of hope, that it will soon replace the Non-AC sleeper class reserved coaches, which are meant for long-distance travel. Senior officers believe that days are not far away when, passengers traveling in sleeper class would receive the joy of air-conditioned travel by paying affordable tariff.

Duronto Express Train Timing:

Train No: 2259/2260 Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto has been engineered in such a way that it will cover 1, 454 km in 16 hours and 30 minutes. While, Rajdhani Exprees will cover the same distance in 18 hours. The only fact is that the former will not provide any commercial stops and will only have technical stoppages for the change of crew.

Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express Train will leave Sealdah at 6: 40 pm on Thursdays and Sundays and will reach New Delhi Station at 11 am the next day. The train will then leave from New Delhi at 8: 05 pm on Fridays and Mondays, reaching the consecutive day at around 12:25 pm.

Ticket fare for Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express

The new economic class Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express will include food facilities at price lower then Rajdhani Express but higher then other express trains.

First AC fare : Rs 3,295

AC-II tier : Rs 1,880

AC-III tier: Rs 1,335
