Sean Garrett's Turbo 919: Well-Written, Produced Album

The Reviewer
Sean Garrett is one of the most prolific songwriters and producers in recent memory. His streak of hit singles led to him being nicknamed "The Pen." In the past several years he has written numerous hit singles including Usher's Yeah, Ciara's Goodies, Chris Brown's Run It, Fergie's London Bridge, Beyonce's Upgrade U and Britney Spears' Toy Soldier. Now, Sean is poised to strike it on his own as a solo artist. On his debut album Turbo 919, Sean shows that "The Pen" has skills in the booth.

The first single off of Turbo 919 is the infectious Grippin' featuring Atlanta based rapper Ludacris. The song is the perfect way to introduce Sean as an artist to the masses. The track is well produced and written and features a very strong verse from Ludacris.

Patron teams Sean Garrett with Pharrell Williams. The song is a very catchy R&B mid-tempo track. The song proves that if you team the best producers and writers in the game, magic can occur.

Lil Wayne joins Sean Garrett on Girlfriend Ringtone. The song is another catchy and well written track. The chorus in particular stands out. Lil Wayne delivers a very strong verse which just adds to the track.

On Come On In, Akon teams with Sean. The track is another solid R&B mid-tempo. The song is catchy and well written. Akon delivers a strong hybrid R&B and hip hop verse.

On The Hood is a strong ballad. The songs subject matter might leave a lot to be desired however; the production and delivery are incredibly solid.

Lay Up Under Me is an interesting collaboration between Sean and StarGate. The song is vastly different than most of the rest of the album and this is a welcome change.

6 In The Morning is a future club anthem and captures Sean's cocky and arrogant nature. The song like most of the rest of the album is incredibly catchy.

Pretty Girl is fairly similar to Justin Timberlake's SexyBack melodically. The song has single potential and is very catchy.

I Still Believe Interlude and She Likes Me Interlude are two very well produced instrumental ballads.

The title track Turbo 919 basically sums up the theme of the album. The album features lots of interesting sounds, melodies, vocal techniques and varied production.

Overall Turbo 919 is exactly what you should come to expect from Sean; a strong album of well-written and -produced songs. If Sean would have sold these songs to other artists, he would have had many hit singles on his hands. Overall, Turbo 919 gets 8 out of 10. If you are a fan of Sean Garrett make sure you pick up Turbo 919 when it is available in stores June 17th.

You've gotta be kidding me. The album is pure hot garbage and this review is full of lies.
