Use Keywords- When searching with a search engine, you'll get better results by using just keywords. By doing this, you will eliminate unrelated results that could show up due to the unnecessary words. You might end up with less results, but they'll more relevant. Another thing to remember is that if you are searching for time sensitive information, such as a concert, or a sports event, you need to include a date. Otherwise, you'll end up with results from years ago, and you'll have to sort through too many.
Use advanced search- The advanced search option is an amazing tool that will help you get more specific results. It really puts you in control, and you can completely exclude results that you don't want. The advanced search option allows you to search for exact phrases, exclude or include certain words, and you can utilize all of these options within the same search. With advanced search, you can get you the results you want even with the most difficult queries.
Use the preferences page- Most search engines are set to display the top ten results, and they will stay that way unless you use the preference page. By using your preferences, you can set the search engine to show you up to 100 results, all on the first page. Keep in mind that most queries give you more than a million results, and most people only ever look at the top ten. Another great tool on the preference page is getting the results to open in another window. This option is very helpful, because if you want to look at more than one result, you'll still have the page right in front of you, and you won't have to use the back, or forward buttons.
On World Wide Web, you find everything you could possibly imagine, and it's all within your reach. You just need your computer, and an internet connection. And, by using these tools, you'll become an expert in no time, sucessfully navigating your way around the vast expansion of the World Wide Web.
