For those who are familiar with Franklin Mint model cars, it seems that they are much easier to find at low prices than ever. Unfortunately, the rarer models still go for absurd prices at over one hundred dollars on www.eBay.com. This article is suppose to guide new collectors some of the tactics that I use to find these model cars at reasonable prices. I wouldn't go to popular hobby shops since they may gauge the prices on the fantastic items. New collectors tend to go through the frustration of loosing model car auctions to avid collectors who are willing to pay a pretty penny. The good thing is that there are ways to beat out these enthusiasts. One way is to use key words on eBay that somewhat describe your model car of choice.

Some of the Franklin Mint cars that I found at excellent prices on eBay were the1978 Silver Chevy Corvette and the 2005 Ford Mustang. I won the Mustang at an auction for about sixteen dollars. Finding the auction did take me a while, but I saved over one hundred dollars. This Mustang may be the easiest model car from Franklin Mint to find at a low price, but it normally sells for forty to fifty dollars. The details on this car make it one of the best Ford Mustang models ever. The best way to find this Mustang at a very low price is by entering "mustang 1:24" on the eBay search engine. You may be lucky enough to encounter the rare Franklin Mint Bullitt Mustang car that was featured in the classic film "Bullitt" starring Steve McQueen. It is a bit of a long shot, but some eBay sellers do not realize what valuable things they are selling.

If you are not interested in buying Franklin Mint model cars online, you may want to look for them at antique shops near you. I once saw a turquoise Bentley model car for sixty dollars at an antique shop in San Diego. I am sure it is one of the most sought after Franklin Mint model car by collectors. I am currently looking for a 1982 Corvette from that brand at an affordable price, but so far no luck. They typically sell for over one hundred and forty dollars on eBay and I am not willing to cough up that much money for one model car.
