Searching for Home

Mandy Kaye
The day fades into night
only to surrender to the days
Like an ocean tide
clutching at the shores

The sky
lit only by the moon
The stars
fade in and out

The wind blows through the empty branches
in search of the fallen leaves

A single snowflake falls from the heavens
and makes its journey to the distant earth,
twinkles, then melts into the waves

Rain drops caress sandcastles left by happier days
filling in depressions as they pass
Creatures take cover before it's too late
Lightning gives only to take

Surrounded in darkness lit by the storm
a tiny starfish searches for his home

    Sad as it is to say, none of us can ever go home again;
be this as it may - home IS where the heart is.

Excellent. Your choice of words make everything very visible. I can see every line happening in your poem.

I could make a spongebob reference here, but yea, I really liked this one. The references to a storm really make a connection to something we were talking about earlier.
