Searching Rapidshare, Megaupload and Other File Sharing and File Hosting Websites
Finding the File You Want by Means of a Third Party Website
One of the downsides to these uploading websites is that they do not make the breadth of their content known to you. Unless you happen to stumble across a link to a Rapidshare file, maybe an MP3 file at your favorite music blog, you'll never have the knowledge and access in order to download the file. Not so fast. Developers have created search engines suited for sifting through the millions of uploaded JPEGs and Quicktime videos to deliver to you the bit of data you want. Now you can search Rapidshare, Megaupload, and sites like it.
1. Find a search engine that attracts you. I have listed a few of these at the bottom of the article. These sites have names like ShareMiner, MegaDownload and FilesTube. A simple Google search of some variation on "rapidshare search" will give you other alternatives.
2. When searching on a site like ShareMiner.com, you need to keep in mind that you may have to word your queries differently than if you were performing a regular search on Google or Yahoo. These search engines gather results through file names. Play around with your search term until you get results you are happy with.
3. Think about your search options. On ShareMiner, for example, you can choose to only search software, or only search documents and e-books. If you know what you are looking for is a big file that the uploader probably condensed into a smaller package, you can choose to search zip and RAR files.
