Searching for Rare Michael Jordan Figurines from Kenner Starting Lineups

Some Kenner Starting Lineup Figures Come with Posters

Some of the greatest Michael Jordan figures ever produced were by a toy company called Kenner (Kenner Products). During the 1980's, Kenner was very famous for their Starting Lineups action figures that were based off of some of the greatest athletes from baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. They were highly collectible and very affordable at around three to six dollars each. Starting Lineups figures were actually more fun to collect than bobbleheads during the 80s. These Starting Lineup figures were more accurate representations of their real life counterparts. Most of these figures actually came with trading cards that are now considered highly valuable. All of the Michael Jordan figures released by Kenner in the 1980s came with highly collectible cards that showed him with hair. Everyone knows that one of Michael Jordan's trademarks is his shaved head which makes those cards quite an oddity. Some of these figures can be found in hobby shops, but they can also be found at swap meets. Swap meets are well known for selling vintage items at very affordable prices. I once saw some of the rarest football Starting Lineups figures at a San Diego swap meet for low prices.

One of the rarest Michael Jordan Starting Lineup figures was obviously from Kenner's exquisite 1992 line. What makes this line so special is that they actually include a large poster of the player as well rather than just the figure. The poster is approximately eleven by fourteen inches and is neatly folded in the package. Also, the second thing that made this Kenner series so special was their Michael Jordan figurine that sported the Chicago Bulls pregame uniform. This figure is incredible rare and is typically sold on eBay for around $100 to $300 in mint condition. It is very difficult to maintain a Kenner Starting Lineups package since it is made out of cheap cardboard. Had Kenner used clamshell packaging on their figures, they would have had higher values. That particular Michael Jordan figure wearing the pregame uniform is a jewel among diehard Starting Lineups collectors. If you are a big fan of Michael Jordan, I highly recommend purchasing this figure at around fifty dollars. Some sellers on www.eBay.com actually start Michael Jordan figure auctions at 99 cents. I personally believe these figures are better than most figures from McFarlane's Sports Picks even though they are more detailed. Starting Lineup figures have more of a collectible to them and they are easy to store. You can check out McFarlane's figures at www.spawn.com.
