Searching for the Rare NECA TMNT Figures at Affordable Prices

NECA TMNT Figures Still Very Popular Among Fans

Jrebound
NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figure line is currently one of the most sought after toy sets among collectors. They are considered to be one of the greatest Ninja Turtles action figures ever made by any toy company. What makes them so special is the fact that they are based off of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books from the mid-1980s. These comics were nothing like the animated TMNT cartoons from the late 1980s. In fact, they were extremely violent and displayed no signs of campiness. These turtles did not have multicolored headbands, but they did have the same weapons. What makes these figures so special is the fact that they have been officially retired by NECA. This means that they will not be available in stores anytime soon, but that may change with the upcoming live action Ninja Turtles film in 2012. Since these figures are not available in most stores, you may find them at www.eBay.com, but they will cost you an arm and a leg. One clamshell packaged NECA Turtle figure can cost you up to ninety dollars. This is very discouraging news for collectors and no seller should sell these figures for such absurd prices. These figures are no longer sold at Mirage Licensing's official site (www.miragelicensing.com). Mirage's site was the only site you could purchase the TMNT four-pack at the original price. Your best shot at finding these figures at reasonable prices would be anime shops. Anime shops are well known for carrying tons of toys from Gundam model kits to Gremlin figures. I was at one shop at Riverside, CA and found a NECA Donatello in a clamshell package for only twenty dollars.

NECA still has not released the second wave of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. This wave will feature the long awaited Shredder figure that so many TMNT fans have been hoping for. This set would have been more interesting had NECA released a Master Splinter figure since he's a very important character from the TMNT franchise. NECA should seriously consider producing Ninja Turtle figures from first two live action films that hit theaters in the early 90s. Those would easily sell among children and older fans that grew up idolizing the turtles. This would be a perfect opportunity for NECA, but the Playmates Toys Company stands in their way from making exciting TMNT figures.
