Searching for the Rarest Gremlins 2 Toys from NECA

Iconic Critters Get Their Own Toy Line

If you were born on or before the 1980s, you were probably familiar with the comedy/horror film "Gremlins". Gremlins was released in theaters around the summer of 1984 according to the film's official IMDB page at www.imdb.com/title/tt0087363/. The cult classic was a critical success and grossed nearly $150 million dollars domestically at the box office. The ugly yet slightly cute green critters immediately became pop-culture icons. The movie's popularity during the 1980s led to merchandize such as dolls, books, t-shirts, and lunch boxes. Since then, there haven't been any significant Gremlin products available in stores. Fortunately, a toy company by the name of NECA decided to produce highly detailed Gremlins figures from both the original film and its sequel. The figures are somewhat simple to find on www.eBay.com, but most of them are sold at high prices. The goal is to find them at a very reasonable price at around eight to fourteen dollars apiece. If you live in a large city, they may be available at stores such as Toys "R" Us and FYE. They are becoming more difficult to find since they were released back in 2008. For more information on these amazing collectibles, visit NECA's official site at www.necaonline.com.

It is very hard to choose which Gremlins figure is the best since they all have that amazing nostalgic appearance. I would totally recommend the Gremlin known as "Mohawk" because it has the most detailed and frightening look. Mohawk is the leader of the entire Gremlins pack. Also, he seems to be the only gremlin in with a razor sharp spine (possibly fin) on his back. The razor spine on Mohawk is actually removable so you will not accidentally break it by taking it out of its package. It is believed that the Mohawk figure from the clamshell package is the hardest to find in both stores and the Internet. If you are a diehard collector, you may want to own it, but it may cost extra cash. NECA really nailed it with its Gremlins toy line because each one looks exactly like their real life counterpart. Unfortunately, NECA never released figures based on the awesome Gremlins characters such as Daffy Gremlin, Baby Mohawk, Lenny, and the hilarious Wicked Witch Gremlin. Had NECA made these available in stores, sales would have skyrocketed. Hopefully someday Warner Bros. Studios will decide to make another sequel or prequel of Gremlins franchise.
