The ISPs today can service all of your wireless need for both in your office and at home. Plus there are devices for your mobile connections as well. Dial up can run at 56kbps, but the introduction of wireless can make your connection run at 384kbps or up to 2.0Mbps and more without a wire.
The speed of connecting with a WiMAX device is around 7Mbps and higher which can make your laptop run as good as your office equipment. The WiFi connections also makes this speed possible. There is also a device you can attach to your USB port that connects using WiMax or EV-DO. By the end of this year the companies providing these connections will increase in coverage. Your laptop is connected using a device that runs from your USB port allowing you to connect almost anywhere without a wireless router.
Cell phones and laptops can now access the Internet at these speeds and make a great mobile device to access any connection via the Internet. The speed will make your laptop seem to work as well as your office or home PC. Looking for a hot spot to connect to is no longer an issue with cell phones and laptops.
The equipment you use to access these wireless devices is not the same that you use in an office since no Ethernet cable or NIC card is needed, only a WiMAX, EV-DO or some other device plugged into your USB port. Most of today's laptops already have a wireless device installed in them from the manufacturer. The wireless card in the laptop needs a wireless port on a router to function that is not blocked and can be accessed.
Using a WiMAX USB device can give you access outside of the confines of a router. The device can connect your laptop as does your cell phone to towers and satellites that will allow access to wireless internet service providers and the Internet.
The WISPs provide access points using the tower that they use with cell phones and other devices. The WiMAX device in the USB port on your laptop can pickup a connection via the WISPs towers or satellites making it very mobile. Television/cable companies are also providing service or connectivity.
Using a national company can provide the coverage that a traveler needs when traveling all over a state, country or the world. A local company will eventually lose the connections since the coverage area is so much smaller and localized. In the search for the best Wireless Internet Service Providers check your local newspaper or telephone book to find them. You can also check with the top cell phone providers since they almost all have a device to accommodate your needs.
