Season 10 'American Idol' My Picks for Top 12

Some came prepared, some arrived with nerves, but they all gave it all they had to give.

This week on "American Idol" the contestants are proving how hard it is to actually give their best performance in the face of adversity. They are learning it's one thing to sing well in front of three people, but an entierly different thing to sing in front of people on national TV.

Some didn't believe the judges criticisms, but tonight is the night dreams are made and crushed. I have found early on as a fan - those who argue with the judges and get too confident, with no voice to back it - often go home the quickest.

Season 10 is actually on fire right now. The contestants are amazing and some of the rarest talent 'Idol' has seen, all at once- in years. It's very exciting and inspiring to watch. This new season is like a breath of fresh air.

Which semi finalists will now enter the Top 12?

Here are my picks for male and female stand outs!

Female stand outs: Pia Toscano, Lauren Alaina, Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia, Karen Rodriguez, and Julie Zorrilla.

Male stand outs: James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Brett Loewenstern, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, and Tim Halperin.
