Season Premiere of 'Survivor Nicaragua' Tonight

Two Tribes: Old Versus Young

Jacqueline Winslow
Can life experiences overtake agility and muscular strength?

Can a 40-year-old overtake a 20-something?

That is the name of the game in Survivor. Brains and wisdom overtake muscles and brute strength, as Survivor is as much about brains as it is about winning challenges. Challenges often include tasks such as puzzles that need to be quickly completed.

Jimmy Johnson is an immediate favorite, or should I say red flag. He is best known as a former American football coach. Now he works as a sports broadcaster. Either way, he will most likely be a target from the get go.

There is plenty of muscles and beautiful women to make tonight's season premiere of Survivor worth watching. If nothing else, we can watch to see if Jimmy Johnson makes it past the first show. In past seasons, if contestants know you've got money or are well-known, they are quick to vote you off. Will tonight be any different? We will have to wait and see!

This season, after looking at all the contestants, I have to say that muscles will probably overtake the brains. In a show where you have to be able to handle heat, very little food, and a lot of testosterone, the "oldies" will have their hands full.

In past seasons, we have seen contestants make allies in the first couple of hours. These alliances have proved themselves to protect the contestants throughout the Survivor season. Can the "oldies" make their way to the finale, or will they be voted off one by one?

History shows us that whoever wins the competitions dictates who will stay and who will go. If the "oldies" can't win competitions, they will get picked off one by one. Their only hope is to come out with a bang and win the first competition. Show the younger folk that they can and will win competitions. Then, they need to take out the strongest competitors, which will be the men with the biggest muscles. To keep winning competitions, they will need to weaken the strength of the opposite tribe.

The younger tribe has advantages from the beginning. They are younger, stronger, and have more energy. That alone could help them prevail to win the first Survivor competition. Hopefully there are some smart people on their tribe to help beat the wise "oldies."
