Follow our 8 natural remedy tips for relief from seasonal allergies. Say good-bye to the sneezing, nasal dripping, watery eyes and the rest.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 1

Consider wearing a face mask when outside, at least when working on the yard. Always take a shower when you come in from outside. This washes the pollen off so you aren't constantly exposed to it. Wash the hair too if possible. Otherwise, try to brush it thoroughly to remove pollen. If allergies are extreme, you may also wash clothing as soon as you get in the house as well. The less pollen you are exposed to, the better.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 2

Keep the house clean and windows closed during spring when seasonal allergies are at their worse. Keeping pollen out of the house is difficult enough without opening windows so it drifts in on breezes.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 3

An air purifier may also be a great help during allergy season. Look for one that is rated HEPA which creates the air found in hospitals. Or look for one that is made specifically to reduce pollen. Air purifiers clear the air of pollen but be sure to keep the filter clean.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 4

Become familiar with a Netti Pot. These pots have been in use in India for centuries. They are available in health food stores and some discount stores. The Netti Pot is a small, ceramic pot with a spout that fits to the nostril. Fill it with warm, salt water and a very small amount of soda (apx. ¼ tsp.) Irrigate naval passages daily or even twice daily to rid them of pollen and mucous.

There are packaged salt mixtures that can be purchased for use with the Netti Pot. When I started using the pot, we used table salt. Currently, I use non-iodized sea salt with a pinch of soda. The soda changes the pH of the solution so it's more compatible with our pH.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 5

Build the Immune System. My favorite choice to build the immune system is Elderberry. Find it in either an extract form or even juice. Elderberry has proven safe for infants and the elderly with no complications. I recommend consuming small amounts of it throughout the day. Mothers add drops to an infant's bottle with good success.

Follow the directions on your product and take it as long as desired. Some of my customers reported Elderberry even healed them of asthma after long term use. Most of them took ½ teaspoon at least 3 times per day until they noticed their symptoms disappeared.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 6

Look into homeopathics. Homeopathics use small amounts of herbs and other natural products to treat a variety of symptoms. These are very safe even for infants. You can either visit your health food store or visit a homeopath for testing. People have reported great results from both.

My understanding of homeopathics for allergies is that they are taken for ½ the time you have had the condition. For example, if you have had the allergy for one year, then you take the homeopathic remedy for six months to heal the allergy. However, many report improvement in symptoms before the prescribed time to take them is over.

If you visit your health food store, look for homeopathics for the allergies you suffer from. Look on the package for the trees, grasses, flowers or crops that produce your seasonal allergy symptoms. These allergy symptoms usually happen all at once as compared to a cold that usually results in one symptom at a time.

If you are unsure of which plants affect you, there are homeopathics that cover a broad range of plants. Most of my customers know exactly what plants affect them but if you don't, then one of these broad range products might work for you.

If you visit a good homeopath, they prescribe one remedy for a variety of symptoms. And I have heard for many years raving testimonies of what a homeopath is able to do for someone. It all depends on how good your homeopath is so check around. Maybe John D. Rockefeller had a good one and this is why he used homeopathics.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 7

Learn about enzymes. The earth would look like the moon if it weren't for enzymes and you can't overdose on them. Recent discoveries show that many people with airborne allergies lack an enzyme called amylase. Amylase digests sugars and when consumed, people often report a reduction in sugar cravings too. Amylase acts as an antihistamine in the body.

There are many other products I can recommend but I favor these from personal experience including that of my customers and my clients. I also feel all of them are safe for all ages with the exception of the Netti Pot which I don't recommend for infants. I also want to share that several of my customers had sinus surgery but still had the problem. For this reason, I don't recommend surgery unless it's a last resort.

Seasonal Allergies: Tip 8

Further antihistamines may be needed for acute symptoms. Choose one of these for further relief. Ester C with bioflavonoids, up to 5000 mg daily during allergy season. Grapeseed PCO's, 100 mg daily. Quercetin, 1000-2000 mg. daily. CoQ10, 200 mg. daily. NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) 200 mg. daily thins mucous. My customers also reported Stinging Nettles helped rid them of seasonal allergies.
