I grew up in Iowa, where there's an abundance of snow, wind, and ice. I like it when it snows at the beginning of the season; at that point, it's pretty and I welcome it. However, by the time the first couple of blizzards have hit, I'm just over it. Here is a poem about winter, my least favorite season overall.
I am allergic to winter.
It makes my skin crawl...and itch.
It makes my eyes water with
each heavy gust of wind.
It provokes tears of pain, sadness.
I miss the sunlight...at least
the kind that doesn't
glare, beaming from the
snow to blind me with
the recognition; I
have to hide indoors
to avoid frostbitten toes and
a windburn face.
When will Spring
be sprung?

Post a CommentSpring's here now, along with all the pollen that makes my eyes burn. Oh well, it's still better than winter!
I'm not a fan of harsh winters but the summers in Houston are pretty bad - especially with all of the mosquitoes.
We have had mild winters the last ten years, but this year is brutal...your poem sums up my feelings perfectly!
