According to national statistics more children disappear at amusement parks during family vacations every year. Experts attribute it to a multitude of issues having to do with both changing times and an amusement park atmosphere that lulls parents into a false sense of security. So what is a parent to consider when taking that family vacation or that day trip to the local amusement park?
First, don't assume that the park employees are watching your children. Often times parents are quite surprise that park employees didn't notice when a child has been taken. One has to consider that there are hundreds of thousands of children walking through the gates of national and local amusement parks every day during the peak seasons, it would be impossible for anyone to keep track of them all so as a parent it is your job to make sure that you know where your children are at all times.
Second, always assume that there is potential danger and take the same precautions you would traveling anywhere. Set out a plan ahead of time in case you and your children are separated, this goes for both older and younger children. A family plan will at least give parents an idea of where a child would head if he or she got lost. Remember that amusement parks are full of people and it takes only a second of looking in another direction to lose sight of each other.
Amusement parks are suppose to be fun and if you are careful you will create memories that will last a lifetime, just make sure to take these few steps to ensure that the memories you make are good ones.
