Season's Pizza Offers More Than Just Good Pizza
Let me say it from the get go -- Season's Pizza is not just about pizza. Though, I must say, the pizza ($9.49 for a large; large single topping $1.89 extra) at Season's Pizza is in a class all its own. In fact, as the Season's Pizza web site declares, the Season's Pizza pie has been voted Delaware's #1 Pizza, as voted in a New Journal Reader's Choice survey.
I especially enjoyed the sauce which accompanied the ground beef and pepper pizza I ate one day at the Season's Pizza in Newark, Delaware. The sauce had a particular tang that reminds me of what you may get when you combine a tasty marinara with "sloppy Joe" sauce, though I am not sure of the exact recipe used for the Season's Pizza sauce. Season's cheese and wonderful dough (not chewy, not hard, not limp -- just a nice combination of softly crispy dough) complete the picture.
Season's appetizers range the gamut, but I love the garlic bread ($1.99) which is served. Yes, it is garlic bread -- not bread "sticks." Season's garlic bread is real bread; fluffy, soft, broad pieces of bread baked to a golden finish and smothered in garlic sauce -- truly a great primer for any meal, and a good snack all in itself.
Season's sandwich offerings are diverse and include burgers, subs, wraps, and more. My favorite so far is Season's gyros ($6.99). To me, the best gyros come on good, soft pita bread, high-quality meat, a moderate amount of tomatoes and onions, and a copious (but not a drenching of) sauce. Season's met my "good gyro" standards on all counts.
The Season's Pizza Experience
I was very pleased with the overall Season's experience. Very friendly, competent, and pleasant staff. Great food. A diverse menu. Wonderful prices. The option for dining in or delivery. The Season's Pizza location I visited looked very clean, well-kept, and orderly. Cold foods were cold. Hot foods were hot. The sodas (were cold and fizzy. Everything tasted fresh.
With prices comparable to dining at a fast food restaurant chain, I would take Season's Pizza anyday.
Season's Pizza has many locations spread throughout Maryland and Delaware, and also can be found in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Season's Pizza I review here is located at 4606 Ogletown-Stanton Road in Newark, Delaware, near Christiana Hospital and Delaware Park.

..continued: clue cheese. It's a small appetizer meal and should cost around $3.50 but they make it a main menu item and charge $7.00 for it. If you want to make a meal out of it you'd need 2 orders at least so you're talking $14.00 for one serving. And if you only want to make is a side item then why pay $7.00 for a tiny side item? Their price for buffalo bites makes no sense. Very bad deal.
I do order from Seasons monthly but if they made their price versus portions ratio a bit more fair to the customer I'd probably order weekly.
Seasons Pizza's pizza crust is LOUSY. They've been stating for years how their pizza won some kind of award from the newspaper and I can't figure out how that's possible because there are lots of small shops in this area that make gourmet pizza and new york style pizza etc, really good pizza, so why give the award to a place that makes their crust look and taste like grocery store freezer pizza? I suspect the award they won has something to do with them being the largest local chain in Delaware (they know somebody or something) and not that the pizza was actually good.
If you've never had Seasons before, be prepared for bad crust and be prepared to pay a little extra for nothing. Their price versus portions is a problem for the customer. For a lot of items on their menu you get very little for your money. The biggest rip off is their buffalo chicken bites. For take-out they place about one handful of chicken into a styrofoam container along with a very small container of blue chee
