Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft First Round Picks
With the 6th pick in the 2010 NFL draft the Seahawks selected Russell Okrung the offensive tackle from Oklahoma State. Okrung was thought by most experts to be the best offensive lineman in the 2010 draft class. With the retirement of Walter Jones, Okrung is a much needed weapon to add to Seattle's offensive line.
The 14th pick in the 2010 NFL draft the Seahawks grabbed Earl Thomas the safety from Texas. Thomas is of the new breed of NFL safeties that are just big cornerbacks with playmaking ability. I found it funny that Pete Carroll bypassed his college safety Taylor Mays. Mays was so offended he had to cry and whine about it. Taylor Mays can wipe his eyes and try to prove Carroll wrong about him, since Mays is now in the NFL west with the 49ers.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Second Round Pick
Seattle has been looking for wide receivers ever since Steve Largent retired. I like the pick of Notre Dame's Golden Take in the 2nd round by the Seahawks. Tate is small and needs work on his routes but he reminds me of the Panther's Steve Smith. I expect Tate to be an exceptional returner if nothing else. The pick of Tate here adds to the Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL draft grade.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Fourth Round Picks
Here Seattle addressed their defense with the pick of Walter Thurmond the corner from Oregon. Thurmond has some injury concerns but if he bounces back this will be a Seattle Seahawk draft steal.
E.J. Wilson the defensive end out of North Carolina was also a 4th round pick in the 2010 NFL draft by the Seahawks. As a North Carolina fan I saw E.J. Wilson quite a bit and I like this pick. Wilson has the skills to be a starting defensive end with a little polish. One thing Carolina does right is groom NFL defensive linemen.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Fifth Round Pick
Kam Chancellor the big safety from Virginia Tech is a nice sleeper pick. At 6ft 3 inches tall and over 230 pounds Chancellor is a run stuffer. I am not sure if he has the speed to start in the NFL but he could be a special teams demon.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Sixth Round Pick
Pete Carroll finally picked one of his USC boys in tight end Anthony McCoy. This guy will be boom or bust with his off the field activities. If he keeps his nose clean he will be an excellent pick for the Seahawks. If he does not then oh well it's just a 6th round pick.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Seventh Round Picks
Dexter Davis is a short but quick defensive end out of Arizona State. His size may make him suited to linebacker at 6ft 1 and under 250 pounds, but that may not translate to the Seahawks defense. If Davis makes the team it will be as a 3rd down pass rusher only.
Jameson Konz is a 6ft 3 wide receiver from Kent State. Konz got some people talking with a great Pro Day but it does not translate onto the football field. He looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane.
Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Draft Grade
Since I count the trade for the two running backs as well, I give Seattle an A on their 2010 NFL draft. I really like their first 3 picks and until the Konz pick, I think they got players that will make their roster.

Good recap. Seattle surprised me with a good draft and the two free agent RB's. Carroll did ok. The NFL has to be the smartest marketing machine in sports.
great reporting
