First when you are traveling to Seattle you will need to find a place to stay. There are many hotel options in Seattle but I will stick to the ones that are the cheapest. If you are looking for the most inexpensive places to stay you will want to avoid downtown. You should look for a hotel in the surrounding areas of Seattle. There are many inexpensive areas around the airport, but make sure you are staying in a descent hotel, because there are some yucky areas around the airport. Bellvue is a great option, it is a little outside of Seattle and you will have to drive to downtown but it is very inexpensive. Bellvue is also a nice area, with a lot of business hotels.
If you are vacationing in Seattle on a budget there are plenty of things you can still do. There are many free and inexpensive options. These are just a few of them, be sure to look around, and be creative you will find many things that don't cost anything.
Pikes Place Market is completely free to walk around, the only money you will spend is on anything you buy. Pikes Place Market can be a whole days worth of free and cheap entertainment. You can look at all the vendors, many of which offer free samples. The flying fish is something that you will want to be sure to see, inside at the fish market they throw the fish when people buy it this is a very entertaining show. The are more stores and vendors then you can count, and if you are looking to do any shopping this is the place. Pikes Place Market has many events on the weekends, so if you are looking for something fun for the family you can find it here.
The Ballard Locks is another free attraction that is fun to go see. The locks lift the boats between the two different levels of water. You can spend hours here watching boats go though the locks. There is lots of nice grassy areas around here so you can bring a picnic, and have a nice lunch. There is also the botanical gardens here that are beautiful, and fun to walk through.
If you want to go see museums and zoos there are many places you can go inexpensively. The Seattle Zoo is a large zoo that is fun for all ages. The Seattle Aquarium is a fun place to spend several hours, and your kids will love the tide pools where they get to touch the animals. The Pacific Science Center has a day or more worth of fun for all ages, they even have a planetarium. The great thing is all these places cost under $15 for admission. If you look around you can often find 2 for 1 deals to many of these places.
Eating can be an expensive part of any vacation. If you know the right places to go you can eat good and cheap in Seattle. The best thing to do is stay away from most of the tourist locations. Don't eat while you are at a museum or zoo because it will be much more expensive.
Pikes Place Market is a great inexpensive place to eat. There are many different places to eat at Pikes Place Market. You can easily spend the day eating your way though the market. You can stop at all the small stand getting everything from crepes, pastries, donuts, and fruits. There are also many restaurants that are very inexpensive in and around the market. The Hum-bo shop in the market makes excellent Oriental pastries, but it can be hard to find on the lower levels of the market. The Crumpet Shop offers excellent crumpets for breakfast lunch, or dinner all at excellent prices.
My absolute favorite place to eat at Pikes Place Market is Turkish Delight, the same name as the candy. This place serves excellent Turkish food, at excellent prices. You get very large portions of food here, and it is some of the best food I have tasted. You have to try their chicken bowls with tender chicken over rice, and their lentil soup. The owner is the nicest lady and she will help you if you are unsure of what to order. If you are in Seattle, whether you are on a budget or not be sure to stop by Turkish Delight.
Seattle can be an expensive town if you don't know where to look for the best deals. Now that you read this guide you will be able to have a great cheap summer vacation in Seattle.
