Ole Miss gave the SEC its 8th team for 'bowling' this season with their 59-0 thumping of Louisiana Monroe last weekend in Oxford! Auburn (5-6,2-5) remains on the cusp of bowl eligibility but needs to pull an upset over #1 Alabama on the road next week to qualify for the SEC's guaranteed 9th bowl spot this season. Mississippi State and Tennessee fell out of bowl contention with their seventh losses of the season last week.
With Thanksgiving coming up next week, there are five SEC Football teams on a bye week this week and the Florida Gators are going out of the conference to take on Citadel at home this week. The SEC Football championship is scheduled for December 6th.
Conference Match ups
1. LSU (3-3, 7-3) hosts the Ole Miss Rebels (3-3, 6-4) in a big game for both teams this weekend. The Tigers got a bit of a scare last week against Troy being behind for the majority of the game while the Rebels had their highest scoring game of the season with winning 59-0!
2. Vandy (4-3, 6-4)scraped by Kentucky last week by four points. They are hosting the Vols (1-5, 3-7) this weekend in an attempt to significantly upgrade their bowling offers in the post season! The oddsmakers are only making the Commodores three point favorites in this matchup. Our pick is for the Vols to find an offense this weekend and pull the upset in Coach Fulmer's next to last college game as the head coach of the Vols!
3. Miss State (1-5, 3-7) hosts the Arkansas Razorbacks (1-5, 4-6). State lost their chance at bowl-eligibility last week, although they played Alabama close for a good portion of the game, while Arkansas has no room for error left this season to obtain bowl eligibility! Arkansas is a 1.5 point favorite in this game, but our pick is for State to pull the upset this weekend and ruin the Razorback's chances at a bowl this year!
Non-Conference SEC Football Play:
1 - Florida (7-1, 9-1) hosts the Citadel Bulldogs (2-6, 4-7)
as the Gators continue to prepare for the SEC Championship game and for what Gators fans hope for most...a trip to the BCS National Championship! Don't expect to see Coach Meyer play Heisman trophy candidate Tim Tebow very much in this game, but the Gators shouldn't have much trouble covering the spread against the Bulldogs.
