Second Topless Photo of Carrie Prejean Miss California Appears on the Web

Miss California Carrie Prejean Nude Photos Scandal Continues

Kathryn E. Darden
There is a great deal of speculation still flying around the web about the reportedly nude photos of Carrie Prejean, Miss California 2009 as a second photo showed up on the internet on May 6. A photo of Carrie Prejean, reportedly taken when she was seventeen, began circulating on the internet on May 5. Headlines touted "nude photos," "topless photos," "dirty photos" and other scandal-mongering headlines while the photo in question showed a young woman covering her breasts with her arms, wearing pink panties. In bad taste? Yes. Topless or nude? Not by a long shot. (See "Miss California Carrie Prejean Nude Photos ScandalHits the Web)

Some websites debated whether or not the photos were really of Carrie Prejean who was the first runner-up in the Miss USA competition. Prejean, however, never denied that photos were of her. On the contrary, on May 5 she issued a formal statement about the photos:

Formal Statement from Miss California Carrie Prejean

"I am a Christian, and I am a model. Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos. Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith. I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be. But these attacks on me and others who speak in defense of traditional marriage are intolerant and offensive."

Then a second photo surfaced May 6 after Prejean is alleged to have told pageant officials only one photo existed. Now Prejean is being called a liar as well as far worse by her detractors. However, in her official statement issued May 5, she clearly refers to "photos," so it appears she has acknowledged more than one photo exists, contrary to what the tabloids are indicating.

Topless Photos of Miss California Not Professional

Some have pointed out that the racy photos of Carrie Prejean are obviously not professional or modeling photos. They point to the fact the photos appears to have been taken in someone's bathroom, not in a studio and that these are the kinds of pictures models sometimes take of themselves or have a friend shoot to check out poses, skin tones, tan lines, weight, etc.

Miss California Carrie Prejean Modeling Career

Carrie Prejean has appeared as a model before and during her time as Miss California for many types of fashions including swim wear for companies including Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Target. She has also appeared in Bliss Magazine, as a model for E! Entertainment at the Academy Awards, as first runner-up on the Deal or No Deal Season 3 Model Search, and on the 2009 Dove Awards.

Miss California Carrie Prejean and Perez Hilton Controversy

Carrie Prejean came to national attention when she was asked a politically-charged question about gay marriage by the pageant's homosexual activist judge, Perez Hilton. Hilton asked Miss California an opinion question about homosexual marriage, and when she gave an honest reply, he openly mocked and attacked her on his blog the next day, calling her words not used in polite society. (See "Miss California - Intolerance at the Miss USA Pageant"). Hilton said on his blog that Miss USA is supposed to help "unite Americans, not divide them," and he hinted that her response may have cost her the Miss USA crown. One might inquire why then Hilton made the decision to ask such a divisive, political question at a beauty pageant if the purpose was "to unite Americans?"

Racy Miss California Photos Should Serve as Warning to Miley Cyrus & Other Teens

Whatever the circumstances under which the provocative photos of 17-year-old Carrie Prejean were taken, this incident should serve as a serious warning to young girls like Miley Cyrus and others who are posting semi-nude or other provocative pictures of themselves on their phone or on the web. You never know when a mistake or indiscretion from your youth will surface to haunt you.

I agree about the notoriety. I have felt bad for how Carrie was bushwhacked at the Miss USA Pageant and how pageant officials and the liberal media has invaded her privacy and attacked her relentlessly over and over since then, but now that I hear about some of the other utterly stupid decisions she has made in her private life involving cameras and videos, I can only say she has brought a lot of this on herself.

Due to her notoriety Carrie Prejean is going to have a tough time cleaning up the negative information about herself in Cyberspace. Someone should buy her Dr. Clark's book, which is available online at ABCPhD with the normal prefix and suffix since he outlines the steps to deal with negative information in Cyberspace in the eighth chapter of his book.

hey pimp I am a christian and I am not falling into sin looking at tastful modeling shots. I also buy SI's swim suit Edition, without falling into sin. Good luck in life Carrie, you have a good head on those shoulders everyone calls nude. Get a life people!!!!!!

I don't see how she can be a Christian and have no problem posing half naked in front of millions of people. To me, these pictures would make it hard for Christian guys to keep their eyes off of her and fall into sin. That's my take on it.

I'm not sure why this continues to be such a hot topic, but it really is her personal business.

I hate seeing her half to go through this. I think we should all get used to this if you happen to disagree on some of these issues you are going to be attacked.

  • jcorn 5/8/2009

She has certainly gotten a lot of buzz about these issues. Good reporting!

The ease of photo distribution is high and the potential use and misuse is scary. Kids, teens in particular can be clueless as to what lies ahead.
