How to Use Your Riches to Help Others

Instead of watching another mindless reality trash series like the, Jersey Shore, or catching, Charlie Sheen's mindless rants, why not sit back, relax and watch an uplifting reality series. "Secret Millionaire," is the latest positive reality series that premiered on Sunday March 6th on ABC at 8 p.m. "Secret Millionaire," features a millionaire who goes undercover and lives within an impoverished neighborhood on a fixed budget. The undercover millionaire works alongside individuals freely giving back to their needy neighborhood. At the end of the hour show the millionaire reveals themselves and generously offers financial assistance to benefit the charities.

"Secret Millionaire's," first wealthy entrepreneur is a woman named, Dani Johnson. She was once a homeless woman who became a self made millionaire by starting a merchandise business and selling from the back of her car trunk. Dani Johnson hid her true identity and traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee, leaving her husband and family behind, along with all the perks of being wealthy. For a week she lives in a low income apartment with forty dollars food money for the week. Forty dollars is the average food stamp amount a single individual receives in Knoxville. During this time Dani Johnson sought out three non-profit organizations which give back to their community, offering her volunteer services while concealing her true identity.

Love Kitchen, is a food kitchen run by two sweet sisters. These twin sisters, Helen and Ellen, are eighty-two years old and since 1986 they have offered free home cooked meals to homeless residents and also deliver meals to shut-ins. When you meet Helen and Ellen, the first thing that stands out about these two angels on earth is their outpouring of love, through their words, deeds, smiles and generous hugs. They work alongside their volunteers and daily greet their family of guests. Love Kitchen, struggles to meet ends to feed the needy. Dani Johnson jumped right in cooking and delivering meals and heard Helen and Ellen's amazing story of love.

Joy of Music, is a music school offering free instruments and lessons to talented low income students. Joy of Music, repairs donated instruments and offer them to talented young individuals. For these students, music may offer the only way out of the streets, and with talent they can receive scholarships and go on and study in music schools. Dani Johnson pitches in, cleans instruments and hears Joy of Music, student's remarkable stories.

Special Spaces, is run by a remarkable family, consisting of a couple who have three birth children and six adopted children. Special Spaces, along with their group of volunteers, create amazing bedrooms for children facing life challenging illnesses for free, thereby assisting the entire family. Special Spaces, along with Dani Johnson's help, create a bedroom for five year old Daisy. Daisy is battling leukemia, a disease that affects one out of a thousand children. A bright bedroom helps with therapeutic healing, brightening a child's life. Special Spaces, faces a financial crisis and isn't able to provide all the children who have needs.

At Secret Millionaire's reveal, Dani Johnson returns to each organization/charity, and offers financial support from her own income. Special Spaces, received 30,000 dollars, Joy of Music, received 40,000 dollars and Love Kitchen, received 20,000 dollars. Dani Johnson was so touched by Daisy and her family's story, she personally wrote another check for 10,000 dollars to help with the family's medical expenses.

"Secret Millionaire," is a heartwarming reality series. Viewers will hear remarkable stories of people freely giving to others by volunteering their services, even if they're not wealthy millionaires. It shows you that volunteering costs nothing but can offer an individual in need so much in return. People with means can offer so much if they realize material possessions mean so much less than offering a hand to an individual in need. Dani Johnson, the wealthy entrepreneur has a remarkable story to share too, and the reason she decided to participate in, Secret Millionaire.

Trash reality television rules the screens today and heartwarming reality series have difficulty getting and keeping good ratings, especially on prime television, but I hope, Secret Millionaire, beats the odds.

Very interesting. There should be more shows like this on TV, instead of all the trash.

Claire, I'm definitely going to have to put this one on my must watch list. There are good people in the world. I'm glad to see people helping those who are less fortunate. Great recap.
