Moms of infants still have the freedom to tote the baby along anywhere, since darling son or daughter cannot speak or walk yet. However, what about those times when mom is stuck at home because the baby is sleeping. While staying at home can be lonely, having a Blackberry would conquer those feelings of isolation. It's not always convenient to be tied to the computer while caring for the baby.
With an iPhone, a mother can be anywhere in the house or even outside or jogging around the block with a baby stroller and keep in touch with the outside world without having to be near a computer. Smartphones enable easy access to mother related blogs and websites, as well as Facebook, email and Twitter.
Working mothers need Blackberries even more than stay at home mothers. If mom works in an office outside of the house, she experiences painful, low-spirited feelings of both physical and emotional distance from the children and the comforts of being in her own home (I know these feelings well, as I worked outside of the house for many years before landing a work at home position).
Although internet access is readily available to employees at most companies, it's risky to spend too much time at work sending personal emails or keeping up with friends' status updates on Facebook and Twitter. The advantage to having a personal Blackberry for working mothers is that a Blackberry will make her feel more empowered by providing more personal freedom despite being trapped in a cubicle and meetings all day.
Sending emails to your spouse or friends, receiving email updates from your child's teacher or just keeping up with friends you rarely see via Facebook can make even the longest, stressful day spent with total strangers that you happen to work with seem more personal.
These reasons are labeled as secret due to the fact that men don't usually experience the same feelings of separation from home and children that women do. Men also may not easily relate to reasons why stay at home mothers need to be connected via an iPhone or Blackberry. Now, everyone knows that moms need to stay in touch and take advantage of technology that used to be reserved only for high level corporate executives.

Post a CommentExcellent! :-)
This is a great article and makes good sense. And I'm laughing at Jan's comment because I thought the same thing - and I love blackberries (the fruit).
I was so sleep deprived that (at first) I thought mothers had to eat blackberries (the fruit) for some secret reason. That drew me into the article even more and I'm glad I read about the advantages of Blackberries (the devices).
