My friend said to me
I listened as he said
Been searching since three
Alcoholic father
Tormented teen
Living life in the closet
Trying not to be seen
We met at a time
When life had us down
Lonely and struggling
Trying to fit in our town
Me from my shyness
He from his past
Close friends we became
I hoped it would last
Years later he confided about being gay
Fearful our friendship might end
I told him I've known and then said
You're my friend
I don't care that you're gay
You are who you are
Find peace and be happy
Grab onto your star

Post a CommentHow sensitive of you. There are many out there who have friends/relatives that are part of the gay community. People are still who they always were, even when we learn of their differences. We should never judge others, but accept them for who are are. Nice poem.
