Secrets of Disneyland

So you're planning a trip to Disneyland. You want to ride as many rides as possible and see as many of the characters and parades as you can manage, but you have no idea where to start. A lot of your time will be used up waiting in lines for the rides you want. Besides getting there at 8am when the park opens there isn't much you can do about having to wait your turn. Or is there? Here are a couple tricks you can use to ensure shorter line waits and more magic.

Fast pass

Fast pass booths are usually located to the side of the main entrance. The booth consists of machines that read the barcode on your admissions ticket and produce a fast pass stub. To use it all you have to do is come back between the times specified on both the fast pass entrance sign and the stub. Generally the time is equivalent to the current wait time. If you plan well you can grab fast passes from as many rides as possible and never have to wait in line. Once its time go to the main entrance to the ride and the cast member will direct you to the fast pass lane. Follow the queue to the next cast member who will direct you to where you need to go. Make sure to not lose your pass because you'll need to give it to the cast member to continue in the line.

Single rider admission

Rides such as "California Screamin" and the "Indiana Jones Adventure" normally have pretty long lines, but you can bypass them using the single rider admission slip. As a matter of fact many rides in both Disneyland and California Adventure Land have single rider passes. What are they and how do you use them? Single rider admission passes are used to fill vacancies in the ride's car. Most people want to ride with their group but for those individuals who don't mind riding separate from their party the single rider admission can save you a lot of wait time. When you walk up to the entrance of a ride ask the cast member if this particular ride has single rider admission. If it does then he will give you a slip of paper, identifying you as a single rider, and direct you to the exit of the ride. Find your way to the next cast member who will direct you to either a waiting car or a waiting area. When a single space is available they will use you to fill it.

When you get the chance to go the happiest place on earth you want to make sure you can experience as much of it as possible. Planning ahead and utilizing these passes will help you breeze through the lines as often as possible. Remember that some rides have neither fast pass nor single rider admission so be sure to ask the cast member at then entrance of the ride if these things are available.
