Secrets on How to Sell a Car Quickly on Craigslist.Com

Tara Lynn Gansrich
I'm sure you know Craigslist.com like the back of your hand already, if not, get learning buddy. Craigslist.com is very helpful when trying to sell a car, I mean, who doesn't love free advertising with minimal work and effort put into it? I have posted many listings on Craigslist.com, especially cars. My boyfriend works in the automotive industry and is constantly coming across free cars, cars with no motors, or cars with some major problems that he just needs to get rid of. Instead of calling and asking everyone he knows, or trying to get his customers to buy these cars, he has found the new love of his life, (well, the second love of his life), Craigslist.com.

He has found that Hondas are a huge seller, no matter what condition, or what type. Hondas just sell well, plain out. Another good seller are cars without motors. Believe it or not, people love to buy or look for cars without motors, and still will buy the car for a pretty penny.

He also does not post pictures when he lists. Odd and very unattractive to a possible buyer you may say to yourself, but posting no pictures of a well sought after car attracts more in his case, they more they wonder what the car looks like, the likelier they are to actually come and see the car in person, which helps his sale enormously. Think about it, when you're looking for something specific on Craigslist.com, we'll say a car, and you see a picture of the car and you don't like it, you're just going to click to the next car. When you come across that great posting with no picture, it's going to make you want to see it even more. This is the good old "creating images in your head" trick here. So, when posting your car for sale, even if it's in perfect shape, think twice about posting a picture. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but when it comes to Craigslist.com, it might cost you a thousand dollars, or more - that could have been in your pocket.

Posting works somewhat like it does on eBay. Contrary to popular eBay belief, posting at certain times of the day supposedly can bump up your average number of possible bidders or buyers. Posting on Craigslist.com also can be profitable to you if you time your listing right. My boyfriend has found that listing between 10:00-11:00 AM on the weekday gets him calls quickly. He believes that by posting around that time, when people looking for car go to Craigslist.com on their lunch break, his posting will be one of the first shown at the top since it was listed more recently. This doesn't just have to be done on this time schedule, although it is a good idea. Posting early weekday mornings can get you some hits, or even on week nights. Try to post an hour before you think people have spare time to go on the computer, for example - after work, before bed, during their lunch break. It all adds up, just do the math.
