I have lived in the same city as an H&M for a while, so over the past year or so I have picked up on a few little inside tricks to shopping at H&M. They will help you get what you want, when you want it, and hopefully avoid those long lines.
Avoiding those long lines at both the dressing room and the check out counter at H&M can be avoided in a few different ways. My first suggestion is if it is at all possible do not go to H&M on the weekend. The first Saturday I ever went to H&M to shop I stood in line at the dressing room for an hour. Just to get in.
I have found that if you visit Monday through Thursday, this line can be avoided usually. I cannot say that in the summer, because many tourists hit H&M while they are in town seeing the sites. This holds true for the check out counter.
The least crowded time at my local H&M is Thursday night, between 8pm and 9pm. This has been consistent over the last year. I try to go at least once a month about this time and have had great luck avoiding the crowds.
Now, if you must shop on the weekend, then bring a friend or your Mom, or heck, even your boyfriend. They can wait in the line while you look. Then, swap with them and the wait is shortened.
If shopping at H&M leaves you a little upset sometimes because it seems your clothing size is always sold out, then here is a tip for you. The sales lady told me the last time I was in H&M that they restock their clothing on Tuesdays. She said to come back then and I should not have any trouble.
With this tip, be sure to ask at you local H&M when they restock. This could be different at each H&M.
Now, my final tip is good for anytime you are in H&M and the crowds are insane, but is not for the bashful. Wear a tank top when shopping at H&M. You can quickly try on a shirt or two without waiting in the dressing room line forever. Don't worry; people do it all the time. You will not look too crazy.
Most of the shirts at H&M require something on under them anyway, so this is a great tip for avoiding the dressing room mayhem.
They do have a return policy of 30 days for a full refund, so you can always return or exchange when you have time Monday through Thursday.
Hope these few tips have helped you get what you want in a hurry at H&M.
